PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI – The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) Annual Spring Concert is making a bold return to its roots, expanding to both Tortola and Virgin Gorda as part of the College’s 35th Anniversary celebrations and a renewed commitment to the performing arts.

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 7:00 PM, the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium in Paraquita Bay will come alive with the sounds and sights of the HLSCC Chorale, Jazz Ensemble, Woodwind Ensemble, and Dance Ensemble.

The Celebration continues on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in Virgin Gorda at the Catholic Community Centre, beginning at 6:00 PM and featuring the same talented HLSCC Chorale and Jazz and Woodwind ensembles alongside special performances from Ciboney School of Excellence, Bregado Flax Educational Centre, and the Virgin Gorda Community Singers.

Tickets are $35 for general admission and $20 for HLSCC faculty, staff, and students. They can be purchased on Tortola at the Fiscal Cashier Window in the Academic Services Building or on Virgin Gorda at the HLSCC Virgin Gorda Centre.

‘A special celebration’

“This year’s concert is not just another event on the calendar, it is a special celebration of who we are as a College and as a community,” Vice President of Academic Affairs at HLSCC Dr Ronald Brunton stated in a press release.

“Music and the performing arts have always been part of the heartbeat of HLSCC. As we honour 35 years of service, education, and culture, it’s only fitting that we return the Spring Concert to Virgin Gorda – a meaningful nod to a past tradition of hosting performances on both islands.”

Concert Coordinator, Ms Alesia Hamm, expressed optimism and pride in this year's production. “Our students and ensembles are exceptional, and this year, we’ve worked hard to bring a refreshed and elevated experience to the stage with the special return of a two-island format. We want this to be a moment that not only celebrates our anniversary but reignites support for the performing arts in the Virgin Islands.”

The College urges the public to attend and support its talented performers, many of whom are current students or alumni who have honed their skills within HLSCC’s music and performing arts programmes.
