Harrigan to Cline: Check yourself!

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Instead of attacking politicians, Claude Skelton Cline, the 2nd district candidate under the main opposition, should make sure he is eligible to contest the upcoming general elections, charged Elvis Harrigan on Friday October 21, 2011 during a meeting at the Watch House, Fahie Hill.

Hon. Harrigan, the 5th district representative, told supporters that he is not one to respond to pettiness, but had to since Cline was threading on thin ice. According to Harrigan, Cline at a National Democratic Party (NDP) rally last Thursday stated that “he [Harrigan] likes to hang out at the Moorings with him and should go sit down.”

However, Harrigan issued a word of advice to the novice politician.

“Mr. Claude Cine, not fraud Cline, my good pastor, instead of jumping on me, in my humble opinion your time should be better spent ensuring that you are eligible to contest the elections... Be it as it may, it will be one less expense at breakfast,” the 5th district rep. said.

While Harrigan is seeking re-election for a second term, Cline, who returned to the Virgin Islands close to three years, has been aggressively criticising members of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) on their alleged weaknesses.

Sending VI’s budget to the UK

“It is true that the UK government has requested to review our budgets; however this process is understandable since we are an dependent overseas territory of the United Kingdom and, as such, they are financially responsible for us,” Hon. Harrigan noted, as this subject has been one of the NDP’s favourites of late on the campaign trail.

Harrigan, an Accountant by profession, explained such requests have also been made to most British Overseas Territories and not only the VI, specifically to ensure that they are aware of the financial status of those that they are contingently liable for.

“Like we are contingently liable for some of our statutory bodies, so are they contingently liable for the British Overseas territories. They have a right to review our budgets, as they should, and are simply exercising that right in light of the global economic climate. I must stress to you all, that this has nothing to do with financial mismanagement, as has been portrayed by those campaigning against us,” he added.

I would like to know how Mr. Harrigan got on the political scene? I feel empathy for him. You better ensure you are eligible to run. Where are your parents from. Is this the only leg you have to stand on with Claude? Again I am not surprised at all. Giving authority to review our budgets sets a precedent for them to review other reports, etc. think about it. Remember control begins inconspicuously. We better be real careful of what we are doing here.

Now your constitution. Because you are nominated doesn't mean you can sit in the House of Assembly. I like VINO article it states he has returned home for nearly three years. Nearly is the key word. You have to living here for three years and the good pastor hasn't lived here for three years. So he needs to go sit down.

It takes one to know one. I guess you a devil too. One thing I am learning about some people in Tortola, when someone comes out and speak the truth, it hurts. I guess you prefer lies.....

LMAO!! Juggy from Anguilla and here questioning a born and bred BVIslander's right to run!! I'm not into the stupid politics, I think Juggy, Mark, Archie, Myron and others have their right to run under our Constitution, but Juggy is really stretching with this one! He could've left this alone as Cline only mentioned him jokingly given that they have a decent relationship. But he has to follow suit with his colleagues, jumping like attack dogs to everything. I can't wait until tomorrow to see how many fools will actually try to challenge nominations!!

Juggy was born here and his Pa from here and Juggy has contributed more to this country than Claude.
