Gunmen rob Aladdin Store on Flemming Street

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- At least four gunmen pulled off a daring robbery on busy Flemming Street in Road Town this morning, Friday, February 9; 2024.

According to reports reaching our News Centre, the gunmen executed the robbery on Aladdin Store just after 10:00 AM. Aladdin Store sells high-end jewellery, watches, bags and other accessories.

No one was reportedly hurt, although the gunmen allegedly fired shots into the air.

A video seen by our newsroom showed that three of the armed masked men entered the store while one robber stood guard outside brandishing what appeared to be a semi-automatic assault rifle.

They allegedly made their getaway in a Kia Soul rental.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has confirmed reports of the armed robbery.

"Police can confirm an Armed Robbery at Aladdin Store on Flemming Street after 10 am this morning. Details are unclear at the moment. More information will be provided as they become available."

      The people in that government office saw the whole thank and fail to call the police on time. The time they stood in their office speaking they could have called the police ,and these fools would not have gotten away. From the angle of that vedio that was the ministry of Education they all need to be questioned and send home for a week. If they called the police they could have instructed them on how to ambushed these bandits. These guys could have been stoped in their tracts if one pjone call was made. One police vehicle come down the band stand onto flemmig street one come down fish lock road to rite way and the other come from headquarters water on that one way street. Everyone have to make way for the police . If these government employees did what aas right which was to call the police. The tjme they spend watching and talking the police would not have work so hard. Shame on us all .     1. Use a one way road for get away.
    2. Acquire a car through rental which requires you to give someone your ID.

        exactly, the kind of weapon we all saw in those videos, we wouldn't want unleased in the middle of town in that busy area with these young bucks who don't have one ounce of sense. Believe it or not it probably was better that the police didn't confront them, obviously the police are out gunned with these types of artillery we are now seeing in our streets. Whoever facilitated their passage (the guns) into the islands, know that you are equally accountable for the blood being shed by them and you WILL ANSWER TO GOD for every young man, woman or child that has been gunned down in these streets, just as if you killed them yourself.

    Why blame others like the Police Force, the robbers, the Chief of Police, the politicians, the business owners, etc., and not see the chief enemy of all our problems, that have and happening rapidly?
    Of course the robbers need to be caught and justice be served, but our problems are far bigger than them, not as flesh and blood as we are, but flesh and blood cannot be overlooked as guilty by act and association.

      There's two sides to this. Police walking around Pier Park with guns may send a message to tourists that the place is not safe. So we have to be careful and have discreet presence, maybe plain clothes police.

    Funny thing about people complaining about the number is they probably dont know either. If pressed I would have said 911 and been wrong, who else?

    It is better to say I dont know and let someone who does give correct info. Also people please put down this idea of a rat because many of you dont know what that is either. If one robber tells on another robber that is a rat, like the former port director, but if we see a crime happen and report it that is what a ordinary citizen is expected to do. We made no pact with them and dont owe them secrecy.

    You need armed police to patrol the town. A police with a hand cuff, a phone and a button is a thing of the past.
    You call the police about a robbery in progress. Then the police have to call an armed response team who have to go get their gun, put on clothes and drive down. Guess what. The thief done rob and reach anegada. not every police needs to get a gun but you need more armed police patrolling the business district.

    Some of ya'll bashing the lady for not knowing the police's emergency number. But if you listened closely, those people in that office (including her) were scared as shit, having to witness this heinous act LIVE! She was clearly nervous and in the time of panic, anything can easily be forgotten. I'd say give her a break under the circumstances. Also, kudos to her coworkers for getting as much information as they possibly could at the time to assist the police.
