PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI – The Virgin Islands’ financial services community is preparing for a transformative milestone this November, as the Vice President of the International Compliance Association (ICA), Timothy Tyler, arrives at the H Lavity Stoutt Community College’s (HLSCC) Robert Mathavious Institute for Financial Services (RMI).

His visit, according to HLSCC, will bring world-class expertise directly to the Territory, with a series of three high-impact masterclasses that promise to reshape how professionals approach compliance and regulation in a rapidly evolving industry.

From November 3-5, Mr Tyler, a respected global authority on compliance and risk management, will lead three exclusive training sessions at the RMI Training Room, Port Purcell, Tortola. On Monday, November 3, he will explore New Technologies & Financial Crime. The following day, Tuesday, November 4, participants will examine Embracing AI in Compliance. The series will conclude on Wednesday, 5 November, with a session dedicated to Risk Assessment & Beneficial Ownership. Each Masterclass will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the cost of participation is $300 per session.

‘Landmark opportunity’

“We proudly welcome this landmark opportunity for the BVI,” said Chidi Liburd, Executive Director of RMI in a press release.

“Having the Vice President of the International Compliance Association join us at RMI to deliver Masterclasses not only enhances the learning opportunities available to our professionals, but also positions the Territory as a serious player in shaping the future of compliance in a rapidly changing world. This is more than training, it is capacity-building that strengthens our entire financial services ecosystem,” Liburd added.

The Robert Mathavious Institute has established itself as a leading centre for education and professional development in the Territory, offering trainings that ensure VI practitioners remain at the forefront of the international financial services industry.

The arrival of Mr Tyler, according to HLSCC, underscores RMI’s growing role as a gateway to global knowledge and innovation, and reflects the Territory’s commitment to maintaining its competitive edge in compliance and regulatory affairs.

Spaces for these exclusive Masterclasses will be limited, and the event is expected to draw participants from across the financial services, compliance, and regulatory sectors. Registration is now open and can be accessed here: https://forms.office.com/r/c3V1ZHWTxJ?origin=lprLink.

True, good for some, but will it be good for all of us financially? Neither do you, others, and I are sure, but let's keep hope alive. Time, and action will tell.
