ESTATE BOVONI, Tortola, VI- 2024 Governor’s Cup champion Ghostinyou of Tortola ran a gutsy race and, for a moment, looked set to successfully defend its title; however, it was not to be.

The Lesmore Smith-owned horse led for most of the feature race at Clinton E. Phipps Race track today, May 2, 2025, however, was overtaken on the homestraight by Floki's Flight of Most Wanted Stables.

The top purse at stake was $30,000.00.

Third was Colbalof.

Risk vs Reward, also of Tortola and owned by Lesmore Smith of Top Priority Racing Stables, was second in the 7th and final race of the day.

The lone win for Tortola came in the 2nd race of the day, when Highly Noted of Top Priority Racing Stables won the Clinton Phipps Cup Classic.

The winning jockey was Winston Hurst Jr.

More details to follow.

Insane ? The Government this for future Government can’t fix a track when the people of the land themselves don’t know what they are doing. Why the Government getting the blame? Why you all not bashing the families of the track or encouraging them to develop it themselves and be full ownership? Or seek investors outside of Government? The Government this or future can’t just go and begin doing as they please. People like you will blame the Government on why you overslept for your first day at a job vs taken responsibility for yourself.

Looks like great fun. We could do something like that here. We should get a race track in the VI.
Who is going to pay for it? Where should we have it? What about the spot where the derelict cars are? We paying for that space just to be an eyesore.

You all need to research what it costs to purchase, train , feed and maintain a race horse . with the state this economy is in right now tell me how many people can afford to race horses. Spend the money where it make sense.
