ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The BVI Football Association (BVIFA) Competitions Committee announced yesterday, Thursday October 3, 2013 that the 2013/2014 season would start with the Virgin Gorda Cup.

The new competition, sponsored by the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor, will feature all eleven registered clubs and will start immediately after the BVIFA’s opening ceremony for the season scheduled for this Sunday October 6, on the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground.

The draw was conducted at the BVIFA Headquarters and chaired by BVIFA President Andy Bickerton, along with Aubrey Liburd, 1st BVIFA Vice President and Chair of the Competitions Committee, as well as Audian Lennon, member of the Competitions Committee and Alfred Reid, the General Secretary (Ag.) of the BVIFA.

Before the draw was made by members of the 11 clubs entered, Bickerton announced that the new competition was just the first of what promised to be an action packed an exciting season of football. “The Cup Competition will be followed by the National League, which features a premier league and a first division format, then the Ladies season will kick off on November 11 and in January the Schools Leagues all start.”

The draw for the Virgin Gorda Cup was then made with each club pulling a letter of the alphabet out of “the hat” which corresponded to the fixtures.

Full Draw

Round 1- October 6, 2013

4pm- Wolues v Old Madrid

6pm- Sugar Boys v Rebels

8pm – Haitian Stars v Islanders

Round 2- October 13th, 2013

6.15pm – East End Eagles v One Love

8.15pm – Ballstars v Panthers

Please note VG United will play the last game of round against the winners of Wolues/Old Madrid on October 27, 2013

The semi-finals are scheduled for November 3, 2013 and the Final will be played on November 10, 2013 at 7 P.M.

All games, apart from the final, will be of 35 minutes per half duration with the final being 45 minutes each way.

Admission to the games for spectators will be just $2.00.

Transportation via Speedy’s Ferry departs Road Town at 1:30 P.M.
