Fist fight ends VG Rise & Shine Tramp
The sun had risen and the sound of live music rang through the island from the stage of the Festivals Ground in Spanish Town as hundreds were partying to a mix blend of caribbean music when the party stopping incident occured.
Persons were seen running towards a group of men, who for reasons unknown, were beating down on each other in a fist fight. Several persons attempted to pull the men apart before it could have caught the attention of ranks of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) but they failed.
The men were very aggressive and it to took the effort of several police officers, aided my other strong arms, to put the fracas to a stop; a stop which was not only to the fight but to the celebrations at the Darwin George Festival Ground.
The root cause of the incident is unknown but it certainly was contrary to the appeal of Minster for Education and Culture Honourable Myron V. Walwyn, who during his opening remarks had appealed to persons to maintain the peace in the good spirit of the festival.
No one was arrested as police seemed have amicably resolved the issue and the men were kept at bay from further contact with each other.
As there was no more music in the ground persons flooded bars and street side stalls where they continued their revelling.
The Chairman of the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Committee, Rupert Vanterpool Jr., could not be reached for comment.
