ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) arrested an individual in possession of an illegal firearm in the early hours of Saturday, August 2, 2025, following a targeted operation to maintain public safety during festival celebrations.

The suspect was initially observed in the Festival Village area (Charlie Neil Frett Festiville), where officers identified suspicious behaviour suggesting he might be armed, police stated in a press release late August 2, 2025.

To ensure public safety, a tactical decision was made to monitor the individual until he moved to a less crowded location.

The RVIPF said officers maintained surveillance as the suspect relocated and then safely engaged with him outside a nightclub on the outskirts of Road Town.

Firearm & ammo seized

A search of his person, according to police, revealed a semi-automatic pistol along with several rounds of ammunition.

This seizure marks the 15th illegal firearm recovered this year and brings the total number of rounds seized beyond 1,000.

The RVIPF said the operation forms part of enhanced measures targeting various forms of unlawful behaviour, including alcohol and drug misuse, which are known factors contributing to violent and antisocial conduct.

Police can only release names and pics after charging the person, not before.

If you look closely you will see the source for that photo is from the internet, not the RVIPF. Pay attention.

How he get inside the village with it?
    • @Karnage (03/08/2025, 10:10) Like (3) Dislike (0) Reply
Keywords are "vicinity" and "less crowded location". Neither one gives the definitive location seen as inside the village.

He was trying to get in the village with the gun or waiting outside to light someone up when they step out the village. Glad the police was up on it.

All the murders that never get solved and police show up to clean people off the ground. In my life i seen 2 people layed out as a bystander that show we have no security. You cant blame people for wanting protection after all these years of violence and all the police are happy they have a belt full of weapons. No gun or drug can move or be sold without some corruption look at the last premier politician them want gun and bullet proof premier ride for themselves to feel protected meanwhile the man had to stab the burglar who broke in his house in the news last week. What if that burglar had a gun. I dont support person under 25 to be armed with firepower though but we have more security and it is less secure. More police funding less secure. Look like those plain clothes police finally put in work.

We need change because the only person arrested for murder was the minor and it was the small community that keep this place safe not police from away.

Someone mentioned in a blog when the police woman got stabbed in her arm in the village today a knife, tomorrow a loaded gun in the village? I bet there are more knives and loaded guns in the village. Enemies catch their OPS in crowded places.

THAT WAS BRILLIANTLY PUT ???? SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST PLAIN IGNORANT / ( BUT ON A SERIOUS NOTE NOTE - ORGANIZED CRIMINALS DON'T HAVE TO TAKE A GUN INSIDE , IT CAN BE PASSED INSIDE IN MANY WAYS TO THE KILLER AND PASSED BACK OUT THROUGH - UNDER - THROWN OVER THE FENCE USING A LITTLE DISTRACTION LIKE WHEN PEOPLE START TO SCATTER AFTER. THEY START POPPING ETC , SO THE SO CALLED SECURITY AIN'T NO GUARANTEE ITS EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF

Most of the time, you won’t hear the shots because of the loud music until you see someone laying on the ground then everyone start scattering. The best thing to do is if you hear gunshots lay on the ground you are more likely to get hit if you are up and running. Y’all stay safe out there.
