Significant funding pledged for US Territories: Health & Education to benefit

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. John, USVI - The US Virgin Islands, along with other Insular Areas, will benefit from a generous funding allocation as the US Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs announced on Monday, May 23, 2023, in grants to the tune of $4,279,808 for the fiscal year 2023.

FREDERIKSTED, Sr Croix, USVI- A new organization vowing to confront American colonialism launched on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, determined to fight to change the way the United States deals with the approximately 3.6 million people living in its territories — including the US Virgin Islands — in regards to democracy and self-determination.
US Supreme Court to decide whether to allow US territories to govern themselves

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- The Revised Organic Act of 1954 gave US Virgin Islands residents the right to choose their own government. A similar law was passed for Puerto Rico in 1947 by the US Congress giving the people of the commonwealth the right to elect their own governor, among other leaders.
US territories to get at least $126M to fight Zika

WASHINGTON, DC — The US Congress late Wednesday September 28, 2016 sent President Barack H. Obama a bill to keep the US government operating through December 9, 2016 providing in the measure some $1.1 billion in a long-delayed funding to battle the Zika virus, of which at least $126 million will be appropriated to US territories.
