Gov’t issues vacancies for members Parole & Public Assistance Appeal Boards
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Government of the Virgin Islands (VI) has issued a number of vacancies for board members to serve on the Parole Board, members on the Public Assistance Committee, and board members of the Public Assistance Appeal Board.
2019 Soca Monarch Ramon ‘G’ breached parole conditions
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Convicted and jailed in 2011 for a crime committed and subsequently released in March 2019 on parole, Ramon A. George aka Ramon ‘G’ has been reprimanded for breaching conditions of his parole when he participated in the Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival’s Soca Monarch competition on August 3, 2019.
NDP seeking to restore flopped Parole Board
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – It was stated in the Parole Board's 2013 annual report that dossiers were prepared for the first potential parole hearing in April of 2012, but the application was aborted primarily due to the non-appointment of a parole officer. The board has since flopped.
First parole hearing likely in a few months- Gov. McCleary
BALSUM GHUT, Tortola, VI – It is anticipated that the first parole hearing for inmates serving time at Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsum Ghut, Tortola will be held within the next few months as the established board is working to fast track the process of putting systems in place.
