ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Some thirty percent of residents and businesses in the Virgin Islands (VI) have not recovered from the ravages of the two powerful category 5 Hurricanes Irma and Maria of last year.

Oil spills over past 5 years cost Gov’t over $700K- Hon Vanterpool
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Noting that when oil spills occur in the territory the clean-up costs have to be burdened by Government, Minister for Communications and Works Hon Mark H. Vanterpool (R4) said Government is moving to approve legislation that would penalise persons who cause oil spills or dump oil illegally.
DDM warns sun-bathers, small craft operators of rough seas
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has issued a warning to residents of the territory as a surface high pressure is expected to generate rough seas and light to moderate wind flow across the islands.
3.7 magnitude earthquake hits territory
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Head of the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) Sharleen S. DaBreo has confirmed that there have been no reports of damage following an earthquake that occurred in the territory late last night November 6, 2015.

Heavy rains, flood watch force closure of Govt offices, schools
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – As the Territory continues to be affected by heavy rainfall, Government today November 7, 2014 sent home non-essential staff early, closing off Government offices and schools earlier than usual as the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) issued a flash flood watch.
