First Tropical Storm forms for the 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Disturbance 2 to Tropical Storm Andrea based on data from aircraft reconnaissance that shows a well-defined center. There have not been any significant changes to their forecast track or expected impacts, the Department for Disaster Management (DDM) reported today June 6, 2013.

Hurricane Message By Premier Of The Virgin Islands

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Dear fellow Virgin Islanders and residents of the Virgin Islands. We are officially in the Atlantic Hurricane Season from June 1 to November 30. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts that there is a 70 percent likelihood of 13 to 20 named storms, of which seven to 11 could become hurricanes, including three to six major hurricanes.
