Everything would have been fixed ‘if Andrew Fahie was Premier’- Hon Mather

After providing a long list of things that he believes need addressing in the territory, Territorial At Large Member Hon Stacy R. Mather, MBE (left) told the members of the House of Assembly (HoA) that he believes the former premier, Andrew A. Fahie (right), would have resolved those issues if he were still the premier. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After providing a long list of things that he believes need addressing in the territory, Territorial At Large Member Hon Stacy R. Mather, MBE told the members of the House of Assembly (HoA) that he believes the former premier, Andrew A. Fahie, would have resolved those issues if he were still the premier.

Mr Fahie is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence in the United States after being found guilty of cocaine smuggling and money laundering conspiracy in February 2024.

“Mr Speaker, I want to wish all my colleagues an enjoyable festival, and I want to say this: If Andrew Fahie was the Premier he would have fixed the roads, he would have fixed the water, he would have fixed everything else that we needed. I stand on that. Have a good day,” Hon Mather stated in closing remarks during Other Business at the Continuation of the Seventh Sitting of the Second Session of the Fifth House of Assembly (HoA), yesterday, July 31, 2025.

No confidence in Hon Walwyn?

Although this statement may have been meant to hit at Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), it is also seen by some as a stab in the back of the Opposition Leader and fellow Alliance member, Hon Myron V. Walwyn (R6), who also desires to become Premier of the Virgin Islands and continues to insinuate that he could do a better job than Premier Wheatley.

Hon Mather not stating that Hon Walwyn could have fixed the issues if he were the premier could be interpreted as also saying he has no confidence in Hon Walwyn to lead the territory.

Hon Walwyn’s Vote of No Confidence against the government was crushed in the House of Assembly yesterday. Only Hon Walwyn and Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) voted for it. Former Opposition Leader Hon Ronnie W. Skelton abstained while Opposition Member Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) was absent.

Hon Mather was also absent at the time of the vote. He later explained that he had a “family matter, and a personal matter”, which prevented him from getting to the HoA in a timely manner as he usually does.

Honestly they didnt call him kim jung fahie for nothing as a politician he got stuff done what grass root people want. Misused his talent big time. Saved us during covid by closing the border. But he screwed up.

I was disappointed he put money in front of him and put the people behind. A lot of things would have been better for real there is no bold innovation now. He didnt want a 300 million loan now we have a 100 million loan. Someone always wants to put us in debt which he did not want for the people. That 100 million loan need to pay for it self. Waiting see it happen.

smuggler Fahie would have accomplished anything in BVI politics once he was controlled by a drug gang. He would have to follow the gangs orders or die!

No vision. Why are you talking about another former politician? You see yourself as so powerless in the space that you can't do anything??? What happened to you? We voted for you! Follower. Not again.
