ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Information just reaching Virgin Islands News Online is that Mr Clarence Cecil Thomas, a pioneer businessman and founder of the popular hardware store in the Virgin Islands, Clarence Thomas Limited (CTL), has passed.

Mr Thomas, a Virgin Islander, passed away this morning, January 21, 2022, family members confirmed to this news site moments ago.

The son of the soil was formally trained as a plumber by the US Government in the 1950s and was credited with ensuring that the young men under his management and in this community of the VI were also properly trained as plumbers.

In 1967, Mr Thomas formed the business that is known today as Clarence Thomas Limited, a hardware store that has helped to meet the needs of the community.

Recognition

In December 2014, Mr Thomas was awarded The Badge of Honour, an award that is presented to a Virgin Islander, or a person who has been an ordinary resident in the British Virgin Islands for not less than 10 years prior to the date of the award, and who has provided entrepreneurial goods and or services within the Territory for over 20 years; or served as an outstanding public servant with a notable degree of integrity and a high standard of service.

And in February 2018, the Rotary Club of Tortola, as part of its Fiftieth Anniversary celebration, honoured Mr Thomas for the tremendous work he contributed within the organisation and the community during the 50 years.

The late former Premier Hon Ralph T. O’Neal OBE was also honoured at that Rotary event,

Mr Thomas was fully devoted to the Rotary Club of Tortola and fully participated in the works of the club.

His son, C. Michael Thomas, who accepted the award on his behalf, had said, “My father lived Rotary. His life was Rotary. We grow up around Rotary and I followed my dad’s footsteps into Rotary. Anything that had to do with Rotary, Clarence Thomas was there.”

The Management and Staff of Virgin Islands News Online extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Clarence C. Thomas.

Death is sure from the day we was born.
The question is where we will spend eternity?
    Live good
    Love
    Help each other
    Obey God’s commandments
    Seek forgiveness
    Accept Jesus
    Forgive quickly
Get saved then baptized then born again in Christ
We don’t know the hour but we know it’s a must and only God knows that hour.
Some fight for land house car money me I fight to make it in the kingdom because hell is no place and only after death u meet your first judgment
When God will say either welcome home my faithful servant
U have fought the good fight, U have finished the race, U have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
Or depart from me you worker of iniquity I know you not.
Plant your garden now while u are alive to reap your rewards when you die.

To the bereaving families may the Holy Spirit comfort you during these times.
