PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- Khiry Creque cruised to victory in the final race of the HLSCC/Highland Spring Classic while Juliane Potgieter eased to her win to be named the overall male and female champions respectively on Saturday November 16, 2013.

Creque completed the 2-mile run at Paraquita Bay in 11:23.22 for the win and his 3^rd consecutive overall title.

With Creque running unchallenged, the race was among Tarique Moses (11:32.34), University of the Virgin Islands’ Isaiah Horsford (11:34.55) and Reuben Stoby (11:47.19) for most of the distance until the final stretch when it was just between Horsford and Moses with the latter coming from behind to take second.

Stoby, the HLSCC/Virgin Gorda 2-mile champion, had to settle for 4^th. Ravindra Sukhu was fifth.

Meanwhile, Potgieter finished in 14:32.69 with Kay Reddy second in 15:33.19, Anna Kinkead third in 15:50.69 and Kelsha Fortune fourth in 16:06.44. Samantha Sukhu was fifth.

M’Khori Crabbe, who was jointly named overall champion for under 9 boys with Sam Potgieter, was first in the one-mile event while A’Keela McMaster was first for girls and also took the overall title.

President of HLSCC, Dr Karl Dawson expressed appreciation to the many persons who participated in the series, those who assisted and also the event sponsor.

He noted the participation of a team from the University of the Virgin Islands in the series and said it is his hope that HLSCC could field such teams for meets outside of the territory.

Awesome, truly awesome!! So good to see members of the various sectors of the community coming together around a singe cause. Of particular note also was the presence and representation of the UVI.
Perhaps we will see the other sister islands (St. Kitts, Montserrat, St. Martin etc.) being represented in the future. Possibilities are endless with the proposed stadium in East End - next stop, the Olympics...
I hope that this attitude can become contagious. Kudos to all.
