ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The retired Permanent Secretary and now Director of Governmental and Community Affairs and Human Resources of Oil Nut Bay Resort, Mr Clyde C. Lettsome, has been tipped to be the new Chairman of the National Parks Trust (NPT) Board.

According to senior sources in the Trust, speaking to our news centre on condition of anonymity, “Mr Lettsome has been already approved by Cabinet and is simply waiting on his letter/instrument of appointment.”

Cabinet Members were tight-lipped on this matter when contacted.

The NPT is dedicated to conserving natural and historical sites in the Territory. It is also committed to improving the ecological areas in the [British] Virgin Islands.

What does the NPT do?

The NPT also collaborates with public and private sector entities to move forward with its five main programme areas of Marine Conservation, Terrestrial Parks, Historical Conservation, Biodiversity Conservation and Community Outreach, according to its Facebook page.

Mr Lettsome, a Virgin Islander, is expected to replace former Chairman Attorney Nelson R. Samuel.

Well if he is appointed he could maybe look at better organizing the Baths NP? They need to start looking at getting some lifeguards, an AED and the staff some first aid training to further aid the thousands of visitors plaguing it on a daily basis. The baths already has a reputation for not being sufficiently equipped for accidents/drownings and this will only increase with the number of tourists being shipped in. VISAR do an amazing job, but think how much better it would be for a drowning casualty to have first aid and an AED strapped to them as soon as they were pulled from the water.

Yes . Competence and know how cannot be replaced with inexperience and "wannabeism". Earn your mark and the world will be a much better place for all of us.

Hopefully He is much better than Ms O'neal and is willing to just sit and go with the flow of old rules and regulations from the 1960s and get up to the time and make our national parks worth visiting!

Why has the mooring ball yearly fees now doubled yet NPT contributes nothing to the maintenance which is astronomical. Look into that Clive. Boaty balls and regular mooring balls needs a differentiation in price.
