Cabinet approves Bevis A. Sylvester as new BVIHSA Chair
According to a Cabinet Post Meeting Statement, Cabinet met on September 9, 2026, and “Considered and approved the recommendation of the Minister for Health and Social Development to appoint Mr Bevis Sylvester as a member and chairperson of the Board of the BVI Health Services Authority, in accordance with sections 5(3)(a), 5(5)(a) and 5(5)(b) of the BVI Health Services Authority Act, 2004, as amended, subject to the approval of the House of Assembly for a period of three (3) years with effect from 7th September, 2026 to 6th September, 2029.”
As the Chairperson, Mr Sylvester will be remunerated at a rate of one thousand dollars ($1,000) per month.
HoA approval required
Cabinet also agreed that the appointment of Mr Sylvester as chairperson be submitted to the House of Assembly for approval at its next convenient sitting, in accordance with section 5(5) of the BVI Health Services Authority Act, 2004; and noted that, in accordance with Section 1(4), “The appointment of Mr Sylvester as a member and chairperson of the BVI Health Services Authority Board, under section 5(3)(a), shall be published in the Virgin Islands Official Gazette and at least twice in a local newspaper circulating in the Territory.”
His Excellency, the Governor Daniel Pruce, chaired the meeting where all Members were present, with the exception of the Premier and Minister of Finance, who was overseas on official duty.
Bevis A. Sylvester
Mr Bevis A. Sylvester is a former long-time General Manager of Delta Petroleum, which was sold a few months ago to SOL.
The Virgin Islander was in the news recently for earning a Master of Laws (LLM) with Merit in International Commercial Law from the University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom.
Mr Sylvester is also the Founder and CEO of ‘All Energy Caribbean Ltd’.
