ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has added an additional ferry trip between St Thomas and the Virgin Islands (VI) effective June 1, 2021.

BVIPA said the proposed supplementary ferry service will depart BVI at 11:00 a.m. daily and return at 2:00 p.m. from St. Thomas and where the current schedule allows for one trip daily, leaving BVI at 8:00 a.m. and returning at 4:00 p.m. from St Thomas.

“The agreement to add an extra trip was generated out of a meeting held on Thursday, May 20th, between the BVI and USVI officials. The additional service is in line with the Ports’ commitment to increase the number of daily travellers, as the Ports continues to expand its passenger processing capacity, as per the current COVID-19 protocols,” the BVIPA said in a statement.

The Ports Authority said it met with Ferry operators earlier this week to discuss the changes, citing the need to ensure that all systems on both sides of the operation, such as advertisements, logistics and protocols, are in place for any increase in-service schedule.

BVIPA had previously increased passenger capacity from 50 to 65 on the existing ferry services which took effect from Thursday, May 27, 2021.

The Port is doing its Job to move the country forward,, The health dept needs to step up and look in the mirror and stop trying to blame everyone and everything for everything that goes wrong, Even listening to the interview the two people sound like they are in competition to see who more intelligent , who has more knowledge, The Gentle man came across as more compassionate than the lady, she came across like Andrew, bullyish...They never say that they have to re-examing their practice, their process, Sad...its everything elses fault, very sad.
