ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Although far from quiet during the Coronavirus lockdown, it is now almost business as usual for the BVI Football Association (BVIFA) as its National League resumes Sunday, July 26, 2020.

The National Stadium at East End/Long Look will host the game between the teams in second and third place in the standings, the Wolues and the Panthers, at 4:00pm, whilst over at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground there will be a double header featuring Sugar Boys and One Caribbean at 6:00pm and VG United against the table topping Islanders at 8:00pm.

The BVIFA has been working closely with the Government Health Departments as well as the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports to plan the return of football and will have all necessary protocols in place.

‘Full steam ahead’

Newly re- appointed BVIFA President, Mr Andrew Bickerton noted that a lot of work had been going on behind the scenes to ensure football would be ready to resume, once they received the all clear and Sunday’s games were just the beginning of a bright new era for  Football

“I am delighted to be re-appointed to the Presidency and can definitely say it will be full steam ahead now.” Commented Bickerton “On the field there is much to look forward too, for both Men’s and Women’s Football, and we are also taking great strides off it, especially with the Stadium plans. The floodlights are to be installed shortly and the Executive will then turn its focus on selecting a contractor for the construction of the main stand.”

The recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Elections also saw Kenrick Grant elected as Treasurer, whilst Avanell Morton aka ‘Clarky’, Aubrey Liburd, Lorrelle Abrams, Andy Davis and Craig Grant were all re-elected.
