BVI Finance & HLSCC to bring practical digital finance insights to local community
While BVI Finance is hosting Fintech on the Seas, a first‑of‑its‑kind international forum convening innovators, policymakers, and industry leaders aboard an immersive, agenda‑driven experience, HLSCC has joined this year as a strategic partner by co‑hosting a community‑focused event designed to open the door to the future of digital finance.
That event, BVI NextWave: Digital Assets Discovery Day, powered by Fintech on the Seas, will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, at the HLSCC Robert Mathavious Institute in the Oleander Building at Port Purcell, Tortola. The Discovery Day, according to a press release from HLSCC, is free and open to the public, offering an opportunity for students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and curious community members to engage directly with ideas shaping the global financial system.
According to the same press release, the partnership reflects a shared commitment by HLSCC and BVI Finance to broaden participation in conversations about emerging technology, particularly as digital assets, blockchain, and artificial intelligence increasingly influence finance, business, and everyday life. Hosting the event in a central, easily accessible location in Tortola reinforces that commitment, removing cost and distance as barriers to participation.
Fintech on the Seas
Fintech on the Seas, hosted by BVI Finance from Monday, June 22 to Wednesday, June 24, will take place at Oil Nut Bay and Necker Island. The global forum brings together senior figures from across the financial ecosystem, including virtual asset service providers, law firms, asset managers, blockchain infrastructure companies, and RegTech firms, to explore innovation, regulation, and global connectivity in digital finance.
A major feature of this year’s Fintech on the Seas agenda is the Regulatory and Policy Summit, which will convene regulators from the United States, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands. Discussions will focus on the next generation of digital asset regulatory infrastructure, examining practical supervision, market access, public‑private partnerships, evolving compliance expectations, international AML standards, token issuance, and digital governance.
BVI NextWave: Digital Assets Discovery Day
Building on these high‑level discussions, BVI NextWave: Digital Assets Discovery Day is designed to bring the conversation closer to home. Participants will gain a practical understanding of digital assets, blockchain, fintech, and Web3, explore how tokenisation and payments technologies are being applied in real‑world contexts, and hear directly from industry voices driving innovation in the digital economy.
CEO of BVI Finance, Elise Donovan commented, “We’re really proud of the impact Fintech on the Seas has in the global fintech calendar, and how well respected and attended it is by our financial services industry. But we are equally committed to helping develop the next generation of financial services and digital assets professionals on island, so it is critical the valuable insights generated at the conference help educate the local community too. That’s why our partnership with HLSCC, and the launch of BVI NextWave: Digital Assets Discovery Day is so important.”
“The Robert Mathavious Institute exists to make world‑class financial services education accessible right here in the Virgin Islands,” said the Executive Director of the Robert Mathavious Institute, Chidi Liburd. “We are grateful to partner with BVI Finance on BVI NextWave, which opens the door for the wider community to learn from global industry leaders, gain practical insight into digital finance, and better understand how these technologies are shaping a financial services sector that is so vital to our economy.”
Featured speakers at the BVI NextWave: Digital Assets Discovery Day include Kingsley Advani, Chairman of Advani Family Office and CEO of Allocations; Mark Mariampillai, founder of Tokuti and a specialist in the tokenisation of real‑world assets; and Ashley Wright, a digital assets strategist and global speaker whose work focuses on blockchain, artificial intelligence, and inclusive pathways into technology and entrepreneurship.
Through this partnership, HLSCC and BVI Finance are ensuring that while the Virgin Islands hosts global conversations about the future of finance, the Territory’s own students, professionals, and residents have a meaningful opportunity to learn, engage, and participate in shaping the next wave of digital innovation—right here at home, the press release stated.
