FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- Governor Albert Bryan and Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach will be out of the territory for the Thanksgiving holiday, starting Monday, November 20 through Sunday, November 26, and November 29, respectively. In their absence, Finance Commissioner Nominee Kevin McCurdy will assume the role of Acting Governor, according to Gov't House.

In a statement issued Monday, Mr. Bryan reflected on the significance of Thanksgiving and announced administrative leave for non-essential government employees on Friday, November 24, designating it as “A Day of Prayer for Peace.”

“As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to take a moment to reflect on the spirit of this special day with all of you,” Governor Bryan said. “In these times, when challenges seem to surround us, it’s more important than ever to pause and recognize the many blessings we have.”

The governor highlighted the resilience and unity displayed by the community of the Virgin Islands throughout the year. “Despite our hurdles, our community has shown remarkable strength and compassion. We’ve supported each other through storms, both literal and metaphorical, and emerged stronger,” he stated.

Mr. Bryan expressed gratitude for the spirit of the Virgin Islands and the kindness of its people. He also took a moment to remember those who have passed away and the importance of building a community they would be proud of.

“I am especially grateful for the opportunity to serve you and to work every day toward a brighter future for the Virgin Islands. Our journey is ongoing, and together, we will continue to overcome any challenge that comes our way,” he added.

He concluded by encouraging everyone to cherish their blessings, lend a helping hand, and look forward with hope and determination. “From my family to yours, I wish you a peaceful, joyful, and blessed Thanksgiving. Stay safe, stay strong, and stay thankful. Happy Thanksgiving, Virgin Islands,” Governor Bryan concluded.
