TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI- Slain firefighter Eric Alezis Albert, who was fatally shot at Greenland on June 20, 2025, was given a water salute at Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island before the body was taken to Dominican Republic, the home country of the late Albert, on July 9, 2025.

Mr Albert, 28, was stationed at the airport on Beef Island as a firefighter.

“Today, we pay tribute to Firefighter Eric Alezis Albert with a solemn water salute as he makes his final journey home to Santo Domingo.

“Eric served with unwavering dedication at the airport fire station, protecting lives and embodying the true spirit of service. His courage, kindness, and commitment to duty will never be forgotten,” Majestic Life Funeral Home and Crematory Services posted on its Facebook page on July 9, 2025.

‘Beautiful send-off’- BVIAA

Meanwhile, the management and staff of the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) said in a Facebook post that they were “deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved fire officer, Mr Eric Albert.

“We extend our sincerest condolences to his friends and family. Today, Eric received a beautiful send-off to his final resting place,” BVIAA stated.

While no one has yet been charged for the murder of Mr Albert, Police have since charged two minors for possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of explosives.

Police also said evidence collected will help determine if the firearm was the weapon used to kill Albert.

    My Condolences To Daisy and rest of his siblings I have known his mom for a very, very long time, she was working at the daycare your pain is my pain we have kids just been strong the Lord will see you through and also the closure of those culprit, may his soul Rip

    Tears of sorrow for him and his loved ones. How can people be so heartless to take someone's life, yet they want to run and hide and continue their miserable lives? RIP, Mr. Albert.
