Blyden hits 43 as Legs crush Stingrays!
Dione Blyden scored 43, Kennedy Bass 38, Jovaughn Cameron 25, Trevon Lewis 22, and Jason Edwin had a quiet night shooting just 18!
Edwin did add 10 assists, 8 rebounds and 7 steals to his night’s work, but the Stingrays were outclassed from the first whistle to the buzzer. Carlisle France scored 22 of their 68 point total with other contributions coming from Tyree Maduro and Rushawn Johnson who both scored 12.
Legs scored almost as many points in the 1st quarter as HLSCC managed in the first half and outscored their opponents by 53 in the second half. Bass also picked up 8 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists, whilst Blyden finished his stellar performance with 6 rebounds, 8 steals and 6 assists.
In the night’s other Senior match up, Mega Mix defeated the Latinos 113-96. Douron Phillip top scored for the Mix with 27 points as his team used a strong second quarter to give themselves the edge. In fact the Latinos outscored their more illustrious opponents in the second half, but couldn’t quite do enough to reduce the deficit.
Nathaniel Malone contributed 22 points and Devon Wattey pulled down 34 rebounds for the Mix, whilst Sandy Nadal grabbed 51 points for the Latinos.
In earlier games, the Gold Rams picked off the Blue Rams in a developmental league encounter 52-17. Shaquiel Prescott finished with 10 points for the Gold’s as they held the Blue’s to just 4 second half points.
In the Junior Division, the Young Gunners beat the Rams 84-79 despite being outscored by 15 in a frantic last quarter.
Shem Samuel was top scorer for the Gunners with 25, Michael Benjamin scored 20 and both picked up 12 rebounds. For the Rams Kevon “Shaq” Lettsome scored 25 with 30 rebounds, Elvette Dore picked up 21 rebounds with his 14 points and Romain Minott finished with 14 points.
On Saturday in the Development division, VG Heats beat the Junior Mega Mix 31-26. Terrique Watley scored 9 and both Aldric Thomas and Jamoi Dore scored 6 for the Heat whilst Tyler Cameron notched 10 for Mega Mix and J’Moi Liburd 8 points and 7 rebounds.
In the Junior Division, Hawks beat Junior Mystics 96-80. Javier Martinez scored 35 points with 23 rebounds, Ryan Alfred added 31 and Shakiel Humphrey 19 for the Hawks .William Penn Junior led the mystics with 20 points, Kimron Telemaque added 19 and Deondre Rymer 12.
In the senior division, East beat Pure Playaz 78-40. Leslie Smith scored 19 points with 14 rebounds, David Lettsome 18, Clint Weston 15 with 11 rebounds and Alward Forbes 12 with 10. Bodean Samuel notched 10 for the Playaz and Deon Smith 9 with 10 rebounds.
The final game of the day saw All Ah Wee overcome the Kings 73-59. Aubrey Daniels Junior hit 17 points with 13 rebounds. Charles Pemberton scored 10 points with 23 rebounds and Kenrick Thomas junior 15 points. For the Kings Jevonne Demming scored 14 points. Delbert Sammuel scored 12 with 14 rebounds and Ray Victor 11.
On Friday the Young Gunners took care of And One 119-82. Benjamin scored 34 points, Sammuel 32 and Makebo Fahie 20. Benjamin also picked off 12 steals and Samuel 10. For And One Sheldeen Joseph top the charts with 18 points whilst William Bridgwater notched a “double” of 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Hawks soared over the Rams 95-76 with Nigel Carey scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds. Shakiel Humphrey also scored 16 and Javier Martinez picked up 16 rebounds. For the Rams Lettsome again led the scoring with 22 points whilst Jasin Rhymer Junior, Kevin Jones and Minott all reached double figures.
In the Senior Division the Legs beat the Latinos 85-62. Trevon Lewis scored 26, Blyden 24, Rhennie Phipp 16 with 12 rebounds and Bass 12 with 14 rebounds. Nadal scored 23 for the Latinos.
