Armed masked man attempts to break in Meyers Estate home

MEYERS ESTATE, Tortola, VI- An attempt by an armed masked man to break and enter a home in Meyers Estate on Tortola on October 7, 2025, was reportedly foiled.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a press release this morning, October 9, 2025, it was shortly after 11:00 AM when officers on patrol in the Meyers Estate area were alerted by a female resident to an attempted break-in at her home.

Police said a male suspect, reportedly wearing a mask, fled the scene on a scooter when confronted.

"Officers immediately gave chase; however, during the pursuit, the suspect brandished what appeared to be a firearm before escaping from the area," The RVIPF said.

No one was injured during the incident.

The RVIPF said detectives are actively pursuing leads, including CCTV footage, to identify and arrest the suspect.

It was on the same night, October 7, 2025, that gunmen opened fire outside a bar in Baughers Bay. No one was injured.

    After all the camera talk these robbers all get away. About time to allow people to defend themselves before it is too late not only business owners because they will go in houses next but it is already here...

      It's not science to handle crime in this small island, create a task force, armed them, send them out in the communities day and night dressed in common clothes driving rental vehicles that are privately owned by the government, tinted windows is a must, that way these evil bastauds won't know who us who among them.

      People please invest in good quality dogs, Rottweilers, pitbulls etc and have them in your yard better yet train one to be inside your house, don't have one only 2-3 is enough!

    maybe an old boyfriend: our place have become so distasteful. We need less talk and more action when it comes to actual enforcement: the mindset these days is camera footage

    when last have you seen police on foot patrol in city of Road Town or even frequently in your village

    Dont only drive trough, stop and linger in our villages so the criminals can see law enforcement in the place because Tortola is not San Francisco yet police can find criminals

      I don’t know if you realize but a lot of these criminals/robbers/gunmen who are currently active throughout the community are quite young and very much just getting their feet wet when it comes to the life of crime, along with that comes fear. If they sense any type of retaliation or danger towards themselves they are armed mainly to cause fear and defend themselves, they aren’t killers per se. However persons will die if things don’t go as planned and if you keep up with the news lately, they are in fact going to shoot at officers, so an officer or two in your community on beat with a hand tool is nothing compared to one or worse four yn’s with AR’s and switches who value their life over yours

        Babylon that’s on patrol needs bigger guns, and learn to shoot back, why let them get away to do it again, the moment one or two of them get killed see how that will stop because they know Babylon will shoot to kill.

    One of those law abiding child rearing business people who can wear a mask but not a helmet scooter riding entrepreneurs that always wanting light sentences in court.

    Sooner these bar owners get guns and start shooting these folks on sight the better. No need for police to enforce helmet wearing the bar owners going to do it for us.

    Maybe they can shoot out all the tinted windows they see as they pass by too.

    I'm getting to like this guns for all idea.

    One shot would get that picture off the wall in the HOA.

    THis happens when a tiny country like this government lack the vision to develop the country. We have Social Issues what is the Health Minster doing . Putting a set of young men up Balsam Ghut cannot solve a governmental , Parenting and community issues in a failing economy.

    All the comments suggesting that we'd be better off allowing residents to own guns - do you not watch the news? In America where citizens can carry firearms there are school shootings on a daily basis. Adding more guns is not going to solve the problem. Better policing, better border protection from the USVI via sea ports, and less corruption will be the only things to help this problem. Not more guns. I can understand wanting to protect yourselves but suppose we suddenly start retailing guns - how are the sellers going to know who the criminals are and who aren't? You'd be making it a lot easier for situations like this to happen.

    People should not blame government for parenting issues. Parents need to be held accountable for minors if they are minors with guns being lawless about the place.

    Firstly yuh gotta use real skills like a junglest, get some rusty nails soak it in gramoxone, a few planks of wood and put the nails in it… Place it around your property, yuh will find then in the ER fighting for their lives. Now yuh don’t need any gun a good Bow and Arrow set, yuh can put in dem and that quite they won’t even know it there until they feel a burning sensation if yuh dead in my house nobody send you and you’re trespassing. Yuh gotta know how to protect yourself and your love ones.
