Another white UK national chosen as next CoP! Blacks & locals shut out!
He is expected to replace another white male UK national, Mr Michael B. Matthews.
No locals or blacks were seriously considered, according to the same sources. The one local and female officer that persons felt could have filled the position, Jacqueline E. Vanterpool, did not apply, according to the same sources.
With the Virgin Islands made up of some 95% blacks, many are asking yet again "Why a white man from the UK has to come to be the head of our police force.”
Many critics of the embattled and unpopular Governor, Augustus J. U. Jaspert said they see his hands all over this move and many are asking in private corners if this is “racism.”
Our newsroom will bring more details as to the name and other details of the new CoP.

Of course it’s rac**t
dumb, they are placed in positions based on how popular they are with others. BUSHMAN TRIBAL QUALITIES.
In 2020 after escaping in 1834 none of we have enough understanding to continue pushing this territory forward
Have nothing personal with whomever heading whatever segments of government BUT who bodyguards the bodyguard- some talking how the current police top cop lands helicopters in his backyard after being in bvi for just 5 years SO top cop monthly payments have to good
will his finances be invested just to ensure clean hands or certain functions in BVI are only applicable to some of us!!!!!???
Welcome Home Mr New Commissioner
Yes, those infidels in the islands are not capable of self-governence, they must be "directed" and "controlled" just as it was prior to 1865.
This appointment begs for a 1949 type response.
The candidate was not chosen by the governor or UK government but by the constitutionally appointed Police Service Commission.
The post was advertised with a deadline date in mid-October. See it here: https://bvi.gov.vg/sites/default/files/rvipf_vacancy_notice_no._4_of_2020_-_commissioner_of_police_0.pdf
Let all those whose mouths are only good for spittle and idle talk now engage their brains and CALL NAMES as to which locals with either:
- an MA in Policing & Criminology, Criminal Justice, Law or equivalent in relevant field with five (5) years law enforcement experience in a senior management position (at the level of Superintendent or equivalent); OR
- BA in Policing & Criminology; Criminal Justice, Law or equivalent in relevant field with ten (10) years law enforcement experience in a senior management position
- Pass in Strategic Command Course or equivalent
Note well: the qualifications didn't include skin colour, whether white, black, honey, redbone, purple, pink, green or blue.
The Public Service Commission that interviews candidates and appoints successful candidates is LOCAL. ALLLLLL this flapping of lips and bumping of gums and NO ONE is asking how this is the governor's doing when it is the PSC that sets the job spec, the requirements and qualifications, shortlists and interviews, then appoints? Y'all REALLY that incapable of coherent logical thought and ready to knee-jerk for every perceived conspiracy? Really?
CALL NAMES of the QUALIFIED who APPLIED. If you can't, have several seats and train up yourself for when this contract expires in 3 years from believing that every time there's a denial it's "RACISM". And lest some bright spark say that the qualifications are too strict... excuse yourself. This territory is small and deserves nothing less than the best. There will be no dumbing down here or lowering of the bar. RISE UP AND MEET THE QUALIFICATION.
You can not ask me to apply, then select who you want!! Or Train me up for a job, give me expectation, then ask me to compete in an open field and give the job to some one else!!
Advertizing a TOP JOB, should be a signal that no one in the system have the skills for the job, so we must sesrch in the wider community / world.
O be careful little ears what you hear.
Our Governments have not always acted in the best interest of the BVI and clearly the UK feels as though the BVI is corrupt and the Governor said as much during his last press conference even though he did not come right out and say it. However, anyone who listened and understood what he was saying could draw the same conclusion. That said, I believe the post of COP comes down to the integrity of the person chosen. No one can pressure one to do wrong if that person has integrity. That said, I wish the new Commissioner all the best. I guess like Mr. Matthews, he too will buy a house in the BVI and enjoy his retirement when the time comes.
I fully agree and support that a BVI national ve appointed...but if the accounts are correct, then the one BVI national who we a thought was ideal for the job.....didnt apply.!!! so what do we do..leave the position vacant ????
seems to be the BVI have a colour issue based on the headline
BVIslanders CANNOT be trusted to enforce the law!
Can this mindset among the Kingdomers be changed?
Only when BVIslanders decide that they've had enough of corruption, and to do away with, and turn in those involved, will the attitudes change!
Bickerings against the governor's decision to investigate those with newly found wealth does not aid our cause, but causes further distrust of us as a people and country!
