JESUP, Georgia, USA- Word reaching our news centre is that former Premier of the Virgin Islands Andrew A. Fahie has been transferred to another prison facility.

Mr Fahie, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison on August 5, 2024, in relation to cocaine smuggling and money laundering charges but is appealing his conviction, was being held in Miami, Florida.

According to reports, Mr Fahie was recently transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution in Jesup, Georgia.

‘A more relaxed’ medium-security prison

The new facility where Mr Fahie is now being held is a medium-security United States federal prison housing male inmates. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a United States Department of Justice.

According to Wikipedia, Ben Reyes, who served time in the camp for bribery and conspiracy, said that the camp was "a more relaxed, more bucolic facility".

Meanwhile, ‘Iron Lawyer’ Benedict P. Kuehne is representing Mr Fahie during his appeal of his conviction.

The appeal is being heard in the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals.

@ Protocol. His newer picture should show a slimmer version of himself since he can't eat as much as he wants while incarcerated.

    Me = ????

Online Dictionary = Bucolic: relating to the pleasant aspects of the countryside and country life.
Example: "the church is lovely for its bucolic setting"

Me: Wow, so all I have to do do earn a pleasant stay in the country is be convicted of a serious trans-national crime and file an appeal?

All this appeal and fighting the System when the system is convinced your guilty they will dispise you. I thought itwasbetter for him to be humble, nice, and serve his time quietly and he would have stand a chance of getting outearly,, Now the system brand him as a problem man thesystem will give him problems. He need to rethink his strategy.

@ lodger. Many people turned their backs on him because, like myself, I had no idea he was mixed up in all of the illegal activity. I had faith in him the way he handled the COVID-19 situation and he seemed like a good humanitarian for the people. I voted for him. This is why we should not put all of our faith into another human being. The shock that went through all of us who didn't know anything about his personal life, knocked us off our feet. We are elderly and so heartbroken and disappointed in him. We didn't turn our backs on him, he turned his back on us! We grew up here in peace and harmony during my young years, and this Tortola now is the greatest letdown I could not have imagined. So glad my parents didn't live to see the hard work they put in to secure the next generations was for NOTHING! CRYING FROM MY HEART!

I hope he is safe and he can find time for introspection. He made some bad decisions and is now paying the price. At the end me of the day he is a mother’s child and he is one of us. Hold tight my boy, purpose is often preceded by process and problems. It ain’t over yet! ????????

@ Agreeable one. Every mother, wife, father, and family has someone in prison who made the WRONG choices. That doesn't mean their families don't love them. It means they must serve their time for their crimes. Being that he was our Premier was even worse. He was involved in crimes that have taken lives by shootings and more. For that, he must be imprisoned. It has nothing to do with the fact that he is one of us.

Why did they moved him from Miami further north? What’s up with that? Did his two co defendants moved as well? It makes it harder for his family to visit him.

Convicted felons are moved to different facilities all the time. That’s very common in the real world, where there is more than one prison/jail. So really, why wouldn’t they? And in regards to his family visiting him, Delta flies direct to Atlanta (their hub) from STT, where I’m sure the Fahies still have plenty of connects. So something tells me they will have no issue visiting coach :)

Tough! Shouldn’t have done the crime then. Hopefully they will take away any possessions he has gained through his criminal activities and that there is a file at RVIPF waiting for him if he should ever return to the VI.

@ Interesting but why. Oh please! My relatives live in Georgia and it only takes an hour and 45 minutes to get there from Miami. I fly back and forth all of the time. If that is too far for his family to fly, then I guess he will not have any visitors.

They could have moved him to a facility further up North or somewhere in the Mid West. Stop worrying about his co defendants.

You can also drive from Miami to Jesup Georgia. It takes 6 hours by car.

He’s in America not the Virgin Islands. They couldn’t care less about what his family thinks. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t mind the change of setting based on what is being reported. I too hope he can reflect on his actions and return a changed man. Despite his actions God seems to be working in his favor. Only 11 years, now a shift to a lower security position. Who knows, he just might get out early.

Drew is no leader; Trump would not even have heard of him. Drew does not even rank as high as former Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia, who is currently serving 6 years.

Hope y’all know when he serve his time and is Deported from the United States he will be dealt a blow like WB when the Ferry hit BVI waters.

Andrew needs to do the 11 years and get it over with. He skated, he could have gone down for life. Some did less than Andrew and they went down for life behind bars. He was within his rights to file for an appeal but appeals are hard to win.

Oh I forgot to add one last thing. I’m pretty sure he has been spending a lot of time praying to God to help get him out of this mess and is probably making God all sorts of promises. Hopefully he can stay true to those promises if God delivers him from the snares.
