Celebrates Style and Tradition at Annual 

Despite the persistent rain, residents and visitors gathered for the annual Virgin Gorda Easter Festival’s Ralph T. O’Neal Hat Parade on Sunday, which celebrated style and tradition. The parade, which began at Lee Road, made its way through the community and culminated at the Catholic Church.

Several prominent community figures attended this prestigious event, including Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9), Minister for Health and Social Development; Lorna G. Smith OBE, (AL), Junior Minister for Financial Services, Trade, and Economic Development; businessman Mark H. Vanterpool, representing OneMart Supermarkets; and former legislator Dr Kedrick D. Pickering.

Results 

After deliberation, the Judges presented the official results as follows:

• Grand Prize Winner:  Aldencia and Angel Francis — $1,000
• Best Woven Straw: Allen Wheatley — $200
• Best Recycled:  Jahnai Caul — $200
• Funniest Hat: Ramona Vanterpool — $200
• Most Creative: Cindy R. Rosan — $200
• Best Parade Sass: Mark Vanterpool — $200
• Prettiest Hat:  Cathy Ann Bascombe — $200
• Best Children’s Hat: Faith Lake — $200
