A mural of old Road Town to be erected under RTP- Luce D. Hodge-Smith
The Road Town Partnership Project was launched on April 4, 2025, to transform the capital into a model of coordinated urban development and sustainable infrastructure.
Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism, Honourable Luce D. Hodge-Smith (R4), announced during the Virgin Islands Voice program on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, that another private sector individual has come forward to enhance the area. “Mr Eldred Williams from Bamboo Shay has initiated a project,” she said.

The mural is being created along the walkway between Main Street and Waterfront Drive.
“We traverse that area all the time, and he has started a project, so he has put up some boards to create a mural, and this mural will be painted by his selected artist, Miss Christine Taylor, and she's going to create images of Old World Town. He's going to put lights, and he's going to landscape the area, so we are looking forward to that," the Junior minister stated.
Project will enhance the area
Hon. Hodge-Smith expressed her gratitude towards Mr. Williams for his contribution to the project. The installation of lights in the area will enhance safety and visibility, as it can get quite dark there.
“Just to give a bit of history, the old road town, there'll be images of what Roadtown used to look like. I mean, we've seen pictures of what old town [is], but to be on a mural, I think that is going to be beautiful," she added.
The Road Town Partnership project is overseen by an independent board comprising 11 members from the government, the business sector, and the community. It is co-chaired by representatives from both the private and public sectors.
Nona Vanterpool-Bonelli, CEO of Vanterpool Enterprise Limited and Vanterpool Pharmacy, officially handed over a project that she took on under the Road Town partnership project this month.
