ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Alexander Jesse Norman, who was appointed under the Mary Elizabeth Truss Government as Minister of State for the Americas and Overseas Territories, is no longer in the role as he has been appointed to another ministry under the Rishi Sunak-led United Kingdom Government.

This means that Mr Norman will no longer be visiting the territory. He was scheduled to arrive today, October 27, 2022, for a 2-day visit.

Mr Norman was appointed Minister of State in the Department for Transport on October 26, 2022.

This information was also confirmed by the Office of the Governor today, following queries by our newsroom.

“Following the appointment of the Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP as Prime Minister there have been a number of changes to Ministerial portfolios in the UK. The Rt Hon Jesse Norman MP has been appointed as Transport Minister in the UK Department for Transport, therefore he has had to cancel his visit to the British Virgin Islands to take up this new role.”

According to the Governor’s Office, ministerial appointments are still underway and his successor will be appointed in due course.

Mr Norman had backed Sunak for Prime Minister and had even stated that making Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Prime Minister again would be "absolutely catastrophic."

In relation to land mass. BVI wins. This comical read is showing your research ability. Stick locally. You do very well with those comments.

Can it be ever possible that BVI will wake up and take stock of reality. Remember these words "if you don't learn to police yourself someone else will in a manner that you may not like." Stop looking outside for everyone and everything act right and get your act together.

To police ourselves we need maturity, checks and balances in government, and no outside interference. We are running from independence but the way things are developing we will be forced into it if we want to keep our country. We can stay with the UK but we'll lose the country.

Please go back to the UK. How many Prime Minsters they change, for the last and since they are in power. the last one lasted 44 days. They are the ones need the checks and balance. Finally, they selected someone with sense.

What do you think the COI recommendations are? They are forms of checks and balances. Without them, the Government can and will run amok.
