ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Two persons on Tortola have been arrested following the discovery of prohibited assault rifles and ammunition by police during a search operation.

According to police, officers of the Special Investigations Team of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) seized two prohibited, high-powered assault rifles following a search of a residence in Harrigan Estate Wednesday afternoon, November 16, 2022.

Ammo & cash also confiscated

In addition to the firearms, officers also confiscated a quantity of ammunition and a large amount of cash as a result of a proactive operation.

Two persons have been arrested and are currently being held in Police custody.

Police said investigations are ongoing.

    Good job police, I hope the courts take this and other gun possession crimes seriously and impose a very harsh sentence not a slap on the wrist.
