FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- The US Virgin Islands Department of Health (DoH) on Tuesday, February 15, 2021, announced the 107th death in the US Virgin Islands related to Covid-19.

"After further investigating cause of death and ensuring notification of next of kin, the Virgin Islands Department of Health is saddened to confirm the territory’s one hundred and seventh death related to Covid-19. The deceased is an 84-year-old female on St. Thomas," DoH said.

The latest death comes as cases continue to decline in the territory. According to DoH, there were 212 active infections territory-wide as of Tuesday: 128 on St Croix, 83 on St Thomas, and 1 on St John. The seven-day positivity rate stood at 5.38 percent.

Most COVID-19 restrictions to be lifted in March

Governor Albert A. Bryan has told the Consortium that March 1, 2022, will herald a new day in the USVI, where most Covid-19 restrictions — save the mask mandate and Travel Portal requirements — will be no more.

"We are working on a plan that should have most restrictions except mask [mandate] and [the USVI Travel] Portal gone by March 1," Mr Bryan said.

"This would include all government employees returning to work and all schools going to full schedule."
