SEA COW’S BAY, Tortola, VI – Speaking at his most recent twice-yearly community feedback meeting as the representative for the Third District Honourable Julian Fraser RA on May 22, 2014, reminded of the importance of involving youth to a greater extent in the politics of the Territory.

“We have to be looking at 50 years out and the one thing I have been preaching and will continue to preach is that young people have to get involved. Don’t just give them lip service they have to get involved they have to sit at the table,” noted Hon Fraser.

“The picture going into the next general elections of any party ticket should have representations of youth,” he said. While he did not isolate this concern as being one of the probable strategies that is likely to be implemented by the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), he noted his high level of interactions and support for this category of society.

He spoke of the strong sports programme that is a main part of the Sea Cow’s Bay community and said that major emphasis is to be placed on the young people as it is imperative that they get actively involved in the future of the Territory.

He noted that it is no up-hill task to get youths involved in leadership roles and positions across the Territory as he insisted that every committee and organization should have a youth as a representative voice on their board.

“Provisions can be made for that, it’s easy, it can be done,” he insisted adding that the way to making this possible is to have at least one youth aged 19 – 35 years old on every board.

“These people have to take the mantle, they have to run this country and they are the ones that can make the proper decisions for the next fifty or hundred years…they will need to have their say…and we have to let them in.”

At the time of addressing this issue Hon Fraser was responding to a concern raised by one member of the audience during the question and answer segment of the meeting.

Let’s compare what myrun has done for the Youth to Fraser

    Fraser
Voted for increased scholarship for youths for 4 short years
Sponsored many youths for sporting events from soft ball to basketball from 1999 to present and even started his own basketball league
Send many individuals off to college and also help many young single mothers and fathers
Supported many youth programme including the sailing programs for youths killed by the NDP
Many votes on youth crime prevention and helping people stay out of trouble by supporting youth programmes
Successful job fair/programme with some 13 young people employed and still have them job unlike another political man where half got laid off
    Must I go on?????

    Myrun

Fooled the youths and no one got a job so them not doing this thing anymore
Created confusion at the ESHS and pitted the youths against teachers which fostered a culture of disrespect
Took much needed funds from the Dept of youth affairs of some 100G to feed teachers (jury still out on real cost and who got paid)
Force another year of high school on the young people holding them back from starting their careers and helping their parents
Gutting the scholarship programme and playing politics with the education system
Stats shows between 2011 and now more youths in jail because of lack of jobs and opportunities under Myrun and NDP
Cut back after school programmes to help the youths
Went to papa New Guinea to youth meeting and brought back zero information to improve the lives of the BVI youth…

So haters please wheel and come again

FYI; just do NOT target the youth of the Virgin Islands for their VOTE and after election day kick them to the curve; far to many of the Virgin Islands youth are neglected while others to the BVI and get more attention....
