Young VI footballers reach Power League final in DR
Known as the “VG Future Stars”, this group of players aged 11 to 13 were top of their division after the first round of matches before losing out in the final, which was won by the leading team in Puerto Rico.
Azarni Callwood was the leading scorer in the tournament with 7 goals. He played 6 games in 3 days, scoring in every game.
According to the BVI Football Association (BVIFA), the opportunity to take part in this highly competitive tournament was made possible through the support of the BVIFA as well as a number of corporate sponsors, including BCQS, RTW, Oil Nut Bay, Harneys, Nanny Cay and Appleby “without whom this would not have been possible.”
Lorelle Abrams, Executive board member of the VGFL stated that their support “has opened up many new opportunities for these young men as well as help develop their football skills.”
