CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI — Police on Thursday, April 27, 2017 arrested and charged a woman on multiple criminal counts for allegedly holding a man hostage on the porch of her home, [US} Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced on Friday April 28, 2017.

According to Mr Dratte, Xiomara Batista, age 40, was observed on video holding a male victim against his will with a firearm on the porch of her residence on Thursday April 27.

Ms Batista was charged with false imprisonment, kidnapping for ransom, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a firearm openly or concealed, and evidence or intent to commit a crime.

Unable to make bail of $140,000, Ms Batista was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections.

Police also arrested a Bronx New York woman, 56-year-old Violet Yvonne Babrow, on Wednesday after finding a “considerable amount” of marijuana on her person.

According to Mr Dratte, a VIPD investigator made contact with Ms Babrow while in the process of serving a search warrant at her family’s residence in the Hospital Ground area, in St Thomas. She was taken into custody at about 6:00 PM the same day, placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Unable to make bail of $10,000, Ms Babrow was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advise-of-rights hearing.

There may be a lot of jokes being made about this lady. The truth is, that we don't really know what kind of he'll she's been through that brought her to this situation.
