FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— A woman and her 4-year-old daughter were left shaken but unharmed after an unknown assailant entered their home just before midnight Sunday, December 4, 2016, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

Mr Dratte said that at approximately 12:04 A.M. on Monday, VIPD officers were dispatched to investigate a break-in report, which occurred at the Concordia Manor Apartments in Frederiksted.

The adult victim told police that on Sunday at about 11:50 P.M., she was taking a shower with her 4-year-old child, and that as she looked behind her, she saw a black, male individual looking at her from behind her bedroom wall. The adult victim said she began to scream, and the individual then ran out the apartment, escaping through the sliding glass door on the apartment’s second floor, according to Mr Dratte.

The adult victim said nothing was stolen from the apartment, nor was anyone hurt during the incident. Investigating officers found the glass and screen doors slightly open.

Police are asking anyone with knowledge that may lead to the arrest of individuals suspected of perpetrating criminal acts to contact 911, or Crime Stoppers USVI, where your tip could net you a payday.

There is a wrong way and a right way to handcuff a suspect. If done correctly, then the suspect will remain manacled.

your next door neighbour or someone you know. When going it to the shower especially if lived alone make sure main door are locked as you cant hear while the shower is running. If you think it may have happened more than once leave shower running and wonder around well armed for awhile. Many may love to see your body and want a closer look or more so see something valuable that you may have and need it more than you. So many things maybe in that person's mind and sometimes you may have to think like them.
