DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – Da 3rd handed We Dem Boys a second successive defeat in the Hon Julian Fraser/Save the Seed Basketball League on Sunday August 27, 2017, 74-68, at the Save the Seed Energy Centre Gym in Duff’s Bottom.

Already the action in the League has been full of excitement, matches going down to the wire and large crowds on the edge of their seats.

Da 3rd’s win was no exception and saw Rushaun A. Johnson top score with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Phillip E. Glasgow just missed out on a triple double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists, whilst Cerron Dassent had 11 points and Dillon Etienne 12 rebounds.

For We Dem Boys, Hakeem Penn scored 21 points with 11 rebounds, Leroy Grant 13 points, 11 rebounds and Ronald Antoine 10 points.

Pure Playaz school Nex

The weekend rounded out with the Pure Playaz beating Nex 94-72, led by Jose Balabueno who notched 21 points and 11 rebounds, Gerald Vanterpool added 16 points with 13 rebounds, Dwayne Stoutt had 16 points with 9 rebounds, Bodean Samuel 14 points and Ray D. Victor 12 with 12 rebounds.

Nex got 22 points from Lestin Wiltshire and 16 from Shakeem E. Freeman.

Other results over the weekend

In the Junior Divisions, the Junior Stars beat Hi Speed, 57-41, the Swaggas beat Lights Out, 43-36, with Jamax Thomas picking up 20 points and 17 steals and the Junior Bayside Blazers overcame East Cavaliers 67-26, with Jquan J. K. Williams scoring 14 points.

In the Senior Division, the Warrias beat Young Empire 106-62, led by 23 points from Juan R. Hatchett, 20 from Noel McKelly and 18 from Alton Vanterpool, whilst Armondo Richards recorded a double double for Empire.

The defending Champs Splash Brothers beat Bayside Blazers, 106-101, led by 39 points, 16 rebounds from Aubrey S. Daniel, 21 points from Jamari K. Dagou and 18 from Demoi M. Hodge. The Blazers got 28 points from Melvin H. Haynes III and 27 from Dion M. Blyden.
