Willing to support Gov’t but not without scrutiny – Christopher
“The people of the territory has spoken and whatever it takes to move the territory forward in a positive way I am willing to make that contribution and supporting them … but that support will not come without considering and examining every proposal to make sure they are in line with what the people these islands want, I will support when it is necessary and will not support when it is not necessary for the people of these islands,” the Virgin Islands Party district representative firmly stated at the VIP press conference held on November 10, 2011.
Christopher who is one of four VIP members to be re-elected and now forms the opposition, said the VIP “must regroup and examine where we have made our mistakes and do whatever within our power and with the advice of the people of this territory to correct those mistakes and continue to build on the legacy which we have started some 40 years ago.”
He congratulated the new Government of Premier Dr. D. Orlando Smith and the National Democratic Party and also thanked supporters for re-elected him to his fourth term in office.
In the 2nd District, Christopher defeated a field of three other candidates to retain his seat with 423 votes . The National Democratic Party's Claude Skelton Cline came in second with 339 votes, Independent Leall Rymer with 38 and Allewine Smith with 7.
