Williamson’s & Crumpler’s crowns up for Grabs in Ceres 10k

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The CERES 10K Road Running series starts this Saturday May 31, 2014, with a race around Road Town starting and finishing on the A.O. Shirley Ground Mondo Track.

The race starts at 6.30am prompt with registration from 6.00am and runners will start at the 200m line on the track before running anticlockwise around the track for 330m and then exiting at the South Gate.

The course takes them along the dual carriageway past Riteway and K-Mark to round Purcell Roundabout and back to Bobby’s roundabout. From there they go left towards Scotiabank and veer left by First Bank to run the loop in front of Banco Popular and return in front of First Caribbean to the main road.

Continuing left along SFD highway the course takes the competitors around Prospect roundabout and back to the hospital, along Main Street and a left turn before the High School to loop around lower estate and onto the Police Station, down to the traffic lights and then a right turn back to the track via the South entrance before a 270m run around the track to the finish line in front of the main stand.

There will be a water stop in front of the track (about 2 miles) and on the return by the hospital (about 4 miles).

Last year Guy Williamson and Katrina Crumpler were crowned Series Champions in the Men’s and Women’s Divisions respectively.

Awards will be presented at the end of the series to Male and Female 1/2/3 overall, Power walker Male/Female first place and to all runners/power walkers completing a series.

There will also be a 5k option for youth and those that prefer. Any 3 - 5k races will count toward a finisher award however will not be eligible for the overall awards.
