ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- First District Representative and former Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Andrew A. Fahie is mum on who is the Minister that allegedly verbally threatened him during the Standing Finance Committee meetings but is not back-peddling on his statement either.

Speaking in the House of Assembly on December 17, 2012 Hon. Fahie claimed that he was threatened by a Minister of Government during the Standing Finance Committee, to not be considered for funding for his district if he “trouble he” (Minister) too hard.

"One Minister told me that depend on how I speak here, he is not doing no project for me if I trouble he too hard. I don't know who he frighten, but he don't know Iris boy. If he want to do it he will do it...nobody ain't going to frighten me in this Honourable House," Hon. Fahie stated.

Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Myron V. Walwyn on December 18 then picked up where Hon. Fahie left off by calling on Premier Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith to look into the allegation.

Asked by Virgin Islands News Online to give further details and whether he supported Hon. Walwyn’s call, Hon. Fahie said “What was said was said and who the cap fits let them wear it.”

The District Representative added that he  will continue to do his work as a representative with respect despite the many challenges and obstacles being placed.

“I will focus my energy on such and in doing so will I never venture to intimidate anyone whether elected or not; nor will I be intimidated by anyone especially elected officials. There are more serious issues facing our Territory and I will focus my energy on highlighting them while providing possible viable solutions so that generations to come can benefit positively from my contributions towards the healthy and sustainable development of the Virgin Islands made during my tenure as a Member of the House of Assembly.”

Meanwhile, Hon. Walwyn had stated that he wanted to know which Minister threatened Hon. Fahie since it was “out of place”. “That is out of order and the Premier should deal with that Minister Madam Speaker; do not rest on those things. I would like to hear from the Member for the First [District] who could have done such wickedness. The people send the Member here to speak."

        @ - @ Strupes - I ain going to stop talking the truth. If truth hurts keep off the comments section of the article.

        1. Schools have missing toilet seats in bathrooms and kids can't even #1 or#2 properly;
        2. Rats & roaches in classrooms scaring the children;
        3. Broken seat and desks in classrooms where teachers and kids can't even sit properly;
        4. Miami louvers missing from windows; never been repaired or replaced;
        5. Leaky roofs so dangerous that it leaks in electrical fixtures;
        6. Sewerage in some playgrounds;
        7. Playground equipment in some schools hazardous and can harm children;
        8. Basic equipment for teachers to teach are missing and they have to go into their own pockets for supplies;

        You need me to stop now with the above points so far?? The list above is NOT what one would call going from GOOD TO GREAT! it is a shame what we are doing to our youth. i don't even want to hear another politician talk about youth unless they truly fix the problem and stop playing politics with their future. just sickening now.

          You out of order. Fahie repaired a lot of schools & did a lot of good in his district & as Minister of Education. We need to teach our children to respect the work of their parents tax money & donot destroy school property. Fahie fixed ESHS bathroom & four months later the children destroyed it. Fahie did good so you back off of him. The Powerschool is one of the greatest things Fahie did so we can track our children's academic progress. I can name more but I don't have time to follow your ignorant behaviour. Let us now support the new Minister & geuss what? Even when Myron repairs the schools this year he will have to do it again next year because repairs to school is an ongoing something. Our youth befited a lot while Fahie was Minister & the facts are there to prove such.

      It is amazing that you love the NDP so that in your mind they can't be wrong and the only thing you can say is that Fahie is telling lies. How we know Myron isn't lying? Ayo just bad minded. To me I have found the biggest consistant liar of all thirteen elected members to be the Premier Orlando.

          You making even less sense than your first blogs. Fahie doesn't owe Myron or the NDP anything to satisfy them to tell them who it was threaten him. That is childishness what you are saying & asking Fahie to do. It is obvious it happened because a bully always yells out first "it ain't me" inorder to create doubt in everyoine's mind so check on the real liars which obviously isn't Fahie. Fahie you said it right...who the cap fits let them wear it.

    I am a district 1 voter. My entire family lives in district 1.

    I am no longer a political supporter of Mr. Fahie ~ BUT, whoever made that threat to Mr. Fahie needs to listen up. Regardless of my personal feelings about Fahie, HE IS OUR REPRESENTATIVE. Any minister who threatens Fahie, by extension, threatens all district 1 residents.

    Let me just say this, we here in the first have a very long memory. To withhold funding for district 1 projects simply because you don't like to be put on the hot seat, is not only childish, IT IS ILLEGAL!

    Whoever you are, you have no business being in politics or having anything to do with controlling public funds. I am a taxpayer and a voter. By threatening to withhold funding for projects in the 1st district, you are threatening me, my family, every single one of my neighbours and every single person who lives in the first district! We pay our taxes and you have no right to withhold anything from us!

    Who the he** do you think you are? I suspect you are an at large candidate and if that is true, I am thoroughly ashamed to admit that I voted for you! But I can promise you this, THAT will never happen again!

    I fully agree with you and I am a resident of the First District also with a large family who wasn't a supporter of Fahie but we are ones now so we will take up your void that was left but please feel free to come back because the man is a good man that fights for the best for this Territroy on a whole.
