CAPOON’S BAY, Tortola, VI – Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) and incumbent Third District candidate, Honourable Julian Fraser RA described as wickedness on the part of the National Democratic Party (NDP) that persons cannot get water when they want to take a bath.

“I am sick and I am tired [of this water situation on Tortola],” he said, speaking on June 3, 2015 during a rally for First District candidate Honourable Andrew A. Fahie held at the Capoon’s Bay grounds.

Honourable Fraser added that some nights ago he saw a young lady struggling with two 5 gallon pails and he asked her what that was. He said she responded that it was water she fetched from some distance away.

“What’s going on? Is anybody going to hold this Government accountable for the wickedness that they are doing?” he asked.

“This is wickedness…why should we have to rush home at 7:00 in the evening to catch the water that might be on for 15 minutes,” he said. He promised the people of the Third District that they will get water 7 days a week 365 days a year with him as their representative.

He said that if he is given six months he will guarantee water all the time for all of Tortola. He said that people have been reduced to not being able to take a bath when they wished to.

Driving home 'on glass' to no water

Noting the Government’s spending priorities when it comes to the people, he said that because of the newly hurriedly built roads, one can drive home and feel as if one is driving on glass. However, when the person gets home eventually they are unable to take a bath because of the spite meted out against him by the current Government.

“Come on. This is not the BVI that we are used to…this is a rich country; let’s fix it,” he said.

In the past, Honourable Fraser accused the NDP Government of not putting the necessary infrastructure in place to send water from overflowing reservoirs to the various communities which sometimes reportedly do not get any water at all for days.

He said the Government has had over three years to do the necessary infrastructure works and this they failed to do.

People are left to die

Honourable Fraser said healthcare is another issue that must be tackled since “people are left to die because they have no access to healthcare.”

He said people are being diagnosed with life threatening illnesses and they are told that they can’t get treatment if they can’t pay for it. “What do you think will happen to them? They will be left to die,” he said.

Honourable Fraser added that under a Virgin Islands Party Government the high fees to see a doctor at the hospital will be addressed. “It has to stop and it will stop,” he said.

Recently Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton announced a slew of new fees for services at the Peebles Hospital, many of which are said to be out of the reach of the ordinary man and woman seeking health services.

It has been alleged too that persons have been considering selling their land to be able to take care of their obligations to the Peebles Hospital.

Doc Smith taking us for fools.

He claims to be running on his record. But all he is doing is running on an election ploy that is supposed to take advantage of their opponents unpreparedness. The so called snap election.

They say that the other parties should have been prepared three and a half years ago. But lets look at it objectively, you have 9 members in the house, VIP had three and PEP one. You need to find 4 additional candidates, VIP needed 11 and PEP needed 12. We all know that finding suitable candidates is no easy task. So call an early election, make a mockery of the process and disenfranchise a number of voters in the process.
We the voters lose. Because the process is rushed and we don’t get proper teams to choose from. That is why the USA has legislated the election date. EVERY ONE knows and a party can’t win simply by tricking the voters so that they don’t have proper options.

And what is NDP’s record? A controversial and expensive cruise ship dock that no amount of fireworks can save, no running water in the capital (not to mention the other districts), crumbling infrastructure, a hospital (built by VIP) opened by NDP with no equipment and a higher costs of living.

I have voted for Dr Smith all of his political career. Not this time. Since we don’t have complete teams to choose from I am going for a coalition government. We the voters should reject his party lines and vote for the BEST candidates. Winning by tricking the people is a hollow victory, but when you care only about yourself it doesn’t matter, does it Doc?

@....... It over 30 years our territory have not had 24 hours of running water( do the maths, that's way pass 2011) VIP should have corrected these issues we are in 2015 and after so many terms under VIP we still have these level of conversation.....

VIP did correct the situation. NDP has been feeding the public lies about Biwater because it is a threat to their personal investments. They have done all they can to prevent Biwater from providing the territory with water so that they can make Frazer look bad. Now they even complaining about VIP members having an interest in Biwater but will not produce any proof. I want to believe but show me the proof.

Do the math. The water is running over at the reservoirs but people can't flush, can't bathe, cant do basic things because of spitefulness. For this alone NDP does not deserve the people's trust. Its just badmindedness. Doctor Smith has FAILED.

The VIP signed a contract to get Tortola running water 24/7 and the raw sewerage off the streets and into a proper treatment plant. Just to spite Frazer, the NDP refused to allow these services to progress and put us to suffer 3.5 years of raw sewerage flowing in the streets in the East and the heart of Town. They still dumping raw sewerage off Slaney but claim they care about the environment. In the midst of the worse droughts ever when people can't get no rain water in their cisterns, the Government rationing water. So, who fooling who? The VIP cared enough to fix the two problems with no personal gain! The NDP puttimg us to suffer until they can all gain personally!

to @ wize up: just a question, because I know someone pulling your strings ( from as far back as the 70's the Virgin Islands Party was involved in the administration of this Territory... Don't you think that is shameful, we are 2015 with the same issues)...NO one have their hand up my @&& so I can speak of my own free will and call a spade a spade).....over 30 years we been having issues with infrastructure ( I make 53 year in a few days; so I can speak openly about our long term issues, because I have lived through them..print this!!!!????

Yes, we had problems... for a long time. But, don't forget the NDP claimed their water plant was already addressing our problems and we did not need BiWater! If we buy into your argument we have to accept that their system was working and Frazer's actions destroyed a perfectly effective and affordable system. According to you, this was not so and I agree....

That NDP water plant suddenly came up with an "affordable" and reliable water production and distribution plan and a solution to resolving the sewerage problems on Tortola after Frazer introduced the BiWater option! Only then their company was willing to stop lining their pockets at our expense and solve our problems!

It was the same thing with their mobile phone service. They raped BVI customers with ridiculous rates while lining their pockets for years when they were the only players in Town. Only when Digicel came on the scene CCT come calling foul because suddenly they found a way to do better. Strups!!!

So yes, we had problems a long time and the NDP privately owned companies took advantage of our misery rather then fix the problems. If they had done right by the People the NDP so care about, Frazer would not have had a reason to seek an alternative to our problems.

Unfortunately Fraser has failed to address the issue about BiWater. Therefore the public is obliged to rely on what the NDP is presenting to them. I would hope that he does not wait until June 8th to address the matter.

BvIslanders, don't be fool by the symbol "Family". This is the most destructive and deceptive government in the history of the Caribbean. It is all about them and their rich friends. One year from now, most of us will have to seek refuge in another country or we will be a people without a homeland. In the Caribbean, it is the safest place for black people. These brutes are going to sell us in slavery like our African forefathers. We are our worst enemies. We want other people have so we will sell our brothers and sisters for a nickel. I have supports say the M***n will be the next premier. His wife also said it in the presence of other people. He is a fraud. He is not a indigenous person. He does not love us. We will kiss the day and damn the hour. All we will be able to say is greed has get the best of us.

Virgin Gorda is in the same water situation. The water goes off at 7 pm and in some places it don't come back before 10:30 am next day. This whole thing is bull. The residents are sick and tired of it. It makes no sense for the NDP to come and campaign in VG. we done know who we are voting for. Our minds are made up. can't fish, can;t go to our beaches in peace , looking to sell our prime lands to your rich friends, while we the residents get the hard rocky lands with no water and roads, this will not fly with us anymore. I don't know why we are having such silly conversation at this time. It has never been done before where water is distributed to everyone throughout the island. Some people will have to get the bucket because of water pressure. People do your investigation don't blog things you hear without investigating. It is simple ask a question you might not like the answer you get, but it will enlighten you. Either party have their issue. If I was the Premier and my little town did not get light , I would have light it up like Christmas tree, if it did not get water, I would let it flow like a water fall , I would make sure I get a trade school in my little town to educate the young ones , a skill to fall back on is a gem. I want people who are visionary leaders to manage this country. Those projects need to get done, I got my investment in it and not one soul is going to tell me things are going to change.

I think most of the bloggers today are making a lot of sense. Having water running 24 hours a day in your house, should be a primary concern for everyone, having affordable healthcare is very important, having healthy food to eat is also very important. These three things are interrelated and cannot be separated. How can we have a healthy society if we cannot have our basic water needs met? Next to those of course we have to live somewhere. Now if our doctors and our political leaders put building a Port Pier, building roads, schools, and other whatever projects above people having water in their houses, we need to get rid of them now. This is not what we expect of doctors running our government. Their priority is a total failure. We want leaders who put peoples' health and welfare above money. Tomorrow is the time to fix this situation. NDP and VIP are not the answer. I believe the Coalition group is a better option. Vote the fish on June 8. 2015, and you will see a different type of political representation. We believe in taking care of the needs of our people first, and we will work on lowering the cost of living for everyone, while at the same time addressing those basic needs that were mentioned above.
