BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – ZBVI 780 AM ‘Honestly Speaking’ radio commentator, Mr Claude O. Skelton-Cline says it is concerning and reckless the ‘dramatic’ actions of Honourable Mark H. Vanterpool (R4) as a newly sworn-in Fourth District Representative yesterday, July 16, 2019, in the compound of Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA).

Mr Vanterpool, soon after being sworn into the House, had launched a contemptuous attack on Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1), noting that the Premier had not been honest about the reason for this security detail.

Skelton-Cline, in his commentary on the Tuesday, July 16, 2019, edition of his show, implored that while the actions are concerning, it begs the question about who or what powers could be behind the actions of Mr Vanterpool.

Degree of Danger

“I found it quite interesting, the degree of the danger of it all, not just for persons whose names were called including his own, but for us as a territory. That always concerns me given the level of volatility… that is taking place in the UK, the Virgin Islands and the world,” Skelton-Cline said.

The man of the cloth continued, “It always begs to question when we see this kind of what I would term, for now, reckless display... That concerns me for all of the citizens of this territory and those specifically in the legislator and it concerns me reputationally as a territory.”

Apologising to the people for the Saga surrounding the D4 seat, Mr Vanterpool said the aim was to join the VI Opposition to hold the Government accountable in the HoA.

Launching an attack on the Premier and calling for UK intervention into the Premier’s alleged assassination threats, Vanterpool questioned, “why is this security detail that we have for Honourable Andrew Fahie, the man himself, and not for the position, the Office of the Premier?”

'Unseen Hands' – Skelton-Cline

According to Skelton-Cline, “When you see this kind of rhetoric, when you see this kind of a display it makes you wonder out loud, what and or who is behind this.”

He noted that Mr Vanterpool’s action may have been as a result of 'unseen hands' manipulating him, “What I saw and heard today is not the man I know, and so it raises some questions,” the ZBVI host implored.

He said, “In this particular context of us as a territory, the UK and its current posture, it just raises and has caused me… [to] force and wonder out loud what powers at the highest levels, is surrounding this that would give his the comfortability to come and say some of the things that were said.”

OMG. Claude you are spot on. I see people commenting Mark has gone mad as they can't understand his rant. Well understand this. He has NOT gone insane, he has possibly been INFILTRATED by the 'higher powers'. This is a familiar situation that has led to governments in Africa, South America and other parts of the world being destabilized by world powers for their own interest and exploitation. The plot goes like this: Find an influential person who has a grievance (is power hungry and greedy) and support him to create confusion and instability among the masses, get rid of the person rightfully in power and install the puppet leader. Why? Think about it. Hon Fahie has clearly been expressing sentiments of independence, a breaking away from the mother country, and strengthening regional ties. This has upset the Mother! How can Vanterpool say the COP has no knowledge of assassination attempts as if he has no fear of possibly saying something wrong? Who brought in the COP? Let it sink in. While you at it please watch the short but eye-opening video with link below and get a clearer understanding of what this is about. Let's not allow that kind of history to play out in the blessed and wonderful BVI. We will be smarter than that. May God bless the BVI and every hardworking and honest people who call this place home.

Could it be his conscience finally catching up with him and both of them now waking up after twenty years of slumber (like Rip Van Winkle)?

    Maybe.

The Speaker should have let the man address his district, and none of the truth wouldn't have come out... if they don't like what Mark said then go to the court.
the truth hurts, I see mark with his large diary so lots more to be said... brace for it.

No sah nobody in their right mind can compare Skelton Cline in campaign mode to that circus yesterday. That was the first in the history of the BVI. This wasn't school children gossiping during recess. This was a former Minister and current representative having an open speak all tantrum about every and anything including Mamacita. This is worst than when NDP party broke up and started eating each other alive.

It used to be said that only women licked law, but this man put the village melee agent to shame.

Is this the way an elected member of our government should behave? I think not. Is this the kind of representation wanted in the fourth district? Definitely not. Unfortunate that all the nipple suckers hung around him cheering instead of admonishing him for acting in a manner unbecoming of someone who carries the title of honourable. There is a time and place for everything under the sun. Time and place for this vitriolic behaviour were in poor taste.

No wonder the whole country is going to hell in a hand-basket. We need to rise up and demand more from who we put in place to represent us. Outta control!

      I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU.

This is how a school child would behave. And the reminder of the class cheering because they don't know
      better.

We taking this lightly and not seeing the seriousness of Mark actions outside the HOA.

With the behavior of Mark Vanterpool (and to be frank I will not even bother to address him as honorable because I personally believe he is not deserving of that title), can someone tell me if they think he is really comfortable in his spirit, was this a true representation of himself and the people of the Forth Electoral District. Is this the way an elected member of the HOA should behave. The people of the territory has elected Hon. Andrew Fahie and his VIP to government. Is Mark behavior a serious blow to the electorate of this territory. Can there be consequences for his outrageous behavior. Is Mark Vanterpool sane, does he have clean hands and a pure heart. Those who surrounded him cheering and laughing, are they in acceptance of that kind of conduct. Come on my people, it’s time to awake and stand up for principle and for what is right, irrespective of political affiliation. This type of behavior must be condemn to the highest degree. If you have no respect for the Premier and the Speaker of the HOA on a personal level, at least have some for the office they hold. As I said before I hope that Mark have millions set aside somewhere and is fully prepared to defend all the accusations he mentioned. I will await the final outcome of this whole fiasco.
