War of Words: Walwyn calls Fahie a liar over ESHS rebuilding
Hon Walwyn was addressing the Purcell Estate Community at his party’s launch of their District 6 Candidate, Hon Alvera Maduro-Caines, when he pointed to some alleged lies of Hon Fahie, especially as it relates to the schools.
Fahie is a Liar - Walwyn
“Never once can I recall the leader of the VIP asking me how things were going with the rebuilding of the Elmore Stout High School (ESHS), never once, if he cared at all he would have asked a question at the very least,” Hon Walwyn said.
He further went on to call Mr Fahie a liar, “I recalled he said he had donors to help with the rebuild of the Leonora Delville Primary School. He probably expected me to play the same dirty politics that he plays with our children.”
According to Walwyn, when he called on Fahie for the assistance, “Verbally and in writing, he could not deliver because he had no real help…. Came on the radio and told a lie because he thought that I would not have accepted the help, I called for the help and he couldn’t come up.”
On another promise he said Mr Fahie ‘lied’, was a promise to the people of the Purcell community, “He promised some black tanks and we ain’t see them yet.”
According to Mr Walwyn, the NDP is staying true to their promise of keeping a clean campaign even as political pundits have been accusing the group of running one of the most divisive campaigns in the history of VI politics.
Only I could build ESHS – Walwyn
In addressing a recent billboard war between the VIP & NDP breakaway, Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM-NDP 2) over the rebuilding of the ESHS High school he said, “If that high school could have been built quicker, there is no one that could have done it better and quicker than I could have.”
He further lashed out to a billboard and social media battle between the two opposition parties on who could get the ESHS up and running in a new building, “To use our children as a pond on billboards for elections purposes is low even for the Virgin Islands Party.”
Hon Walwyn is currently being investigated for a 1.6M wall he constructed around the same ESHS, in which Auditor General (AG) Ms Sonia M. Webster—in an ESHS Wall Report submitted to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) for further action—said lacked value for money and was corrupt.
“We have got to be realistic and truthful with our people. We had two category 5 hurricanes and a flood. It was not the NDP that caused the Hurricane or the floods,” Mr Walwyn said, even as the school is yet to be completed two years after the devastating hurricanes of 2017.
