War of Words: Walwyn calls Fahie a liar over ESHS rebuilding

-Lambasts VIP & PVIM over billboard wars using children
As the race towards the February 25, 2019 elections in the Virgin Islands (VI) draws closer, Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP 1), Honourable Myron V. Walwyn (AL) had no issues calling his main opponent, Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Chairman, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) a liar, at least twice while campaigning last night Thursday, February 7, 2019. “Never once can I recall the leader of the VIP asking me how things were going with the rebuilding of the Elmore Stout High School (ESHS), never once, if he cared at all he would have asked a question at the very least,” Hon Walwyn said. Photo: VINO/File

PURCELL ESTATE, Tortola, VI – As the race towards the February 25, 2019 elections in the Virgin Islands (VI) draws closer, Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP 1), Honourable Myron V. Walwyn (AL) had no issues calling his main opponent, Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Chairman, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) a liar, at least twice while campaigning last night Thursday, February 7, 2019.

Hon Walwyn was addressing the Purcell Estate Community at his party’s launch of their District 6 Candidate, Hon Alvera Maduro-Caines, when he pointed to some alleged lies of Hon Fahie, especially as it relates to the schools.

Fahie is a Liar - Walwyn

“Never once can I recall the leader of the VIP asking me how things were going with the rebuilding of the Elmore Stout High School (ESHS), never once, if he cared at all he would have asked a question at the very least,” Hon Walwyn said.

He further went on to call Mr Fahie a liar, “I recalled he said he had donors to help with the rebuild of the Leonora Delville Primary School. He probably expected me to play the same dirty politics that he plays with our children.”

According to Walwyn, when he called on Fahie for the assistance, “Verbally and in writing, he could not deliver because he had no real help…. Came on the radio and told a lie because he thought that I would not have accepted the help, I called for the help and he couldn’t come up.”

On another promise he said Mr Fahie ‘lied’, was a promise to the people of the Purcell community, “He promised some black tanks and we ain’t see them yet.”

According to Mr Walwyn, the NDP is staying true to their promise of keeping a clean campaign even as political pundits have been accusing the group of running one of the most divisive campaigns in the history of VI politics.

Only I could build ESHS – Walwyn

In addressing a recent billboard war between the VIP & NDP breakaway, Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM-NDP 2) over the rebuilding of the ESHS High school he said, “If that high school could have been built quicker, there is no one that could have done it better and quicker than I could have.”

He further lashed out to a billboard and social media battle between the two opposition parties on who could get the ESHS up and running in a new building, “To use our children as a pond on billboards for elections purposes is low even for the Virgin Islands Party.”

Hon Walwyn is currently being investigated for a 1.6M wall he constructed around the same ESHS, in which Auditor General (AG) Ms Sonia M. Webster—in an ESHS Wall Report submitted to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) for further action—said lacked value for money and was corrupt.

“We have got to be realistic and truthful with our people. We had two category 5 hurricanes and a flood. It was not the NDP that caused the Hurricane or the floods,” Mr Walwyn said, even as the school is yet to be completed two years after the devastating hurricanes of 2017.

@ This man...I fully agree with you!!!!!!! Mr. Walwyn is indeed a dictator and will self-destruct at the rate he is going. He is dictating and controlling those weaklings he hand picked to run behind him instead of with him. He is bad for the VI and I encourage the people to not waste their votes for this man because he will continue to destroy the VI if he ever becomes premiere...

Too much petty vibes within this 2019 election. Between a lot of people and new technology the Era we’re all in is having an effect is us. We have to go down before we actually get back up. A lot of things all party are doing ain’t Necessary. I don’t have any grandchildren as yet but you with children should be thinking different. We’re not going to get the nectar from the fruit. It’s our grandchildren children’s who will benefit from all of this.

Walwyn shut your ass, The records are there to show that Fahie asked you many questions, not personally but openly in the HOA in relation not only to ESHS but other schools throughout the territory and all we get from you is sweet talks and that you are in conversation with possible donors. Why after you boasting soo much about home much money the NDP have in the reserve we still have to depend on donors for our complete rebuilding?

For the record Myron, there were people who were willing to help with the cappoon's bay school but they did not want to have anything to do with government having the money. They didn't trust you.

If it is true, who does it sound like? President Donald J. Trump. Trump said that he knows more than the Generals. And furthermore, he alone can fix what ails the US. He is a wiseacre that went to the best schools and knows the biggest and best words and is a stable genius. The Hon Walwyn needs to take a humble, civil and chill pill.

    Too much theft.

I glad the shoe is on Andrew foot now. When he went to the media saying that Mitch wanted to come on the VIP side it was okay but now the tables turn the VIP supporters cannot take it. Andrew began this dirty game and now cannot handle it.

We traveled to Dominica last year to do some work and to my surprise a country bigger than ours all the schools were repaired after the hurricane the government told us that they had to deal with the rebuilding of schools first and foremost because education is a must in that country and we looked at each other I personally believe that the government should’ve have put all schools First in the BVI
