ROAD TOWN, Tortola VI – Former Legislator Myron V. Walwyn, who made an election campaign promise to pay long overdue Civil Servant increments on March 15, 2019—on condition of being re-elected to government—has been exposed once again for trying to hoodwink the people of the Virgin Islands (VI) in his failed scheme to become the nation’s Premier.

The promise, made by the former embattled Legislator, turned out to be a complete lie as revealed by Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) who noted that the National Democratic Party (NDP) draft budget met by his Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government, had no mention of civil servant increment payments in the estimates, nor as a line item.

Where was the Money?

“You were hearing before we got here that the increments were already there and they are going to be paid… nothing go so. Had to come and look for the money because the money wasn’t even budgeted for,” the Premier said in outrage during the April 26, 2019 Budget Debates, noting that his government had to put the amount in via their transitional budget.

“If it was so, that means the budget that we met would have already had in the increments, so that you could pay right away,” Hon Fahie further noted in pointing out the deceit of the Walwayn and Dr D. Orlando Smith led NDP administration.

The premier further revealed, “The draft budget that we met, didn’t even had the line item for the increments…  You don’t have to take my word for it,” he said in noting that the information is publically accessible. “Nothing's there” he said.

Criminal Conduct - Fahie

The premier further revealed, however, that the money is now budgeted for and “Public officers can look forward to some help, because government didn't have an abundance of money but we massaged some money out to help people who are working in public service, who don’t have any money to help them with their destruction from Irma.”

The Premier pointed out too that many in the Territory are still not living well, post-hurricane Irma and Maria of 2017, due to financial constraints.

“So if all our people not living well, and we have 120 million dollars that is being purported, then this will have to be one of the most criminal conduct that I’ve ever seen in the history of the Virgin Islands,” he told the House of Assembly (HoA).

This start by VIP ain't looking good.. Promised changes.. Promised to be different. To do different.. Its the Same o Same o... That's the difference between NDP and VIP... VIP lacked courage to make the right and tough decisions... People vote change to get change but VIP lack the will and the courage.. NDP make things happened. Wrong sometimes right most of the time. They make decisions. Not just talk..
