Orlando, Florida, USA - On Thursday, May 31, 2018, young Virgin Islander from East End, Long Look, Kevon S. Lettsome, won President of DeVry University Delta Mu Delta Honour Society of Orlando and Jacksonville chapter when they held their internal elections for executive officers.

Mr Lettsome was inducted and sworn in as the third president on Monday, June 11, 2018, and will lead the organisation for two years from fall 2018.

He ran against two persons, where he won by a small margin of 3 votes.

“It’s always great to be a part of an established organisation, especially an academic one. I further want to express how thankful for all of you guys support, where you have given me the opportunity to lead Delta Mu Delta chapters of Orlando and Jacksonville. I thank you and nevertheless, my vision moving forward is a reachable one. I’ll like all of our members to don’t just work in the books but work when we are not in the books. I look forward to working with each and every one of you,” expressed the new President.

Lettsome to introduce Delta Mu Delta @ HLSCC

While thankful for the opportunity to head the Delta Mu Delta, Kevon stated that under his leadership he wishes to introduce the honour society at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC), local college in the Virgin Islands (VI).

He said, “We will focus on expanding our body; becoming more visible; taking part in more community outreach overseas and here in Orlando. Notwithstanding, under my leadership, we are going to take Delta Mu Delta to my hometown the Virgin Islands, where we will encourage the local college to start a Delta Mu Delta chapter, as I see it as a great opportunity to promote academic excellence.”

Meanwhile, Brent Ward, Director of Delta Mu Delta Honor Society Orlando and Jacksonville, and Faculty Chair, expressed during the induction ceremony that he was “very happy” that Mr Lettsome was voted President.

“I was impressed when I met him in my Introduction to Business and Technology course with his strong presence and natural leadership ability. I knew he’d make a good candidate for president of the society when he approached me, after hearing about an upcoming vacancy.  I fully expect the next year will be full of many good experiences for Kevon and Delta Mu Delta as he takes the helm, refines his vision, and brings it to life here in Orlando.

Delta Mu Delta is an international honour society dedicated to the recognition of students who have distinguished themselves academically and of faculty members and business leaders who have experienced measurable success in their profession. DMU was founded in 1913 by five faculty members from New York University’s School of Commerce. The purpose of DMD is to promote higher scholarship in education and to recognise and reward scholastic attainment in business subjects.
