ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP)Honourable, Andrew A. Fahie (R1), was high in commendation for ideas—that are beneficial for the development of the Territory—which came to the fore by ‘political newbie,’ Ms Mitsy J. Ellis-Simpson, during her internal campaign with the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) recently.

“She has a lot of good ideas and a lot of good ideas came out from her and I am saying this now that she definitively has a future in this (politics),” Hon Fahie said, as he complimented her for her bravery and passion for her country which led her to pursue politics.

He was at the time –Saturday, December 1, 2018—speaking with reporters, shortly after his party completed its internal elections for its At-Large candidates, to run on the party’s slate at the 2019 General Election.

Though Ms Ellis-Simpson was not successful in her bid to represent the party at the General Elections come 2019 as an At-Large Candidate, she said there was good camaraderie among the nine nominees.

“I felt blessed that I was part of the process because I did get some information out as to what I would like to see happen with the country,” she told reporters.

Legacy

Her decision to enter the political realm stems from her firm belief in legacy.

According, the political newcomer ,“we have two major parties in this country and if you really study the history, I think the VIP has done incredibly well in developing the country throughout the years, so based on certain things, because I like to research a lot, I think the Party is the one I want to choose.”

Asked if she was disappointed that in not making the slate to contest the General Election, Mrs Simpson responded saying, “No I am not disappointed in that fashion…I gave it my best but what I also recognized is that I am a newbie so people have to get a chance to know who you are.”

She insists however, that she was very happy to have launch herself to the public.

Is she born in the Virgin Islands or do she has any lineage ties? If not, she should not be qualified to hold political office.

@ also: 10 times is joke!: Ms Ellis is good people It never ceases to amaze, me when I comes to our people we come under some such scrutiny by our very own people: now mr & mrs white shows up and none of we have no comment or any speculation: grandpa white shows up in this territory and our prime real estate is handed over to him by the politicians(followed by no trespassing): my next door neighbor uncle white have taken over the costal waters for his weekly pleasure craft business and all of us embrace him..when I comes to my good friends from the region, look upon the labels; dirty old talk and insulting language..

You don’t need to run for politics to get things done. I heard this young saying that she would like to contest the next general elections because when she looks out at the bay it is filled with garbage and derelict vehicles. It’s not the site she grew up seeing. I’m sure many of us share that same sentiment but you can get a group together and do a massive clean up. Just saying
