ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Chairman of the Virgin Islands (VIP), Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1), has for the first time defended his sweeping victory at the party’s internal elections—ahead of the General Elections—saying it was ‘political strategy’ that worked.

“I didn’t rig it. But I always study how I lose…So that when the time comes again, I could look on how to win…So I studied how I lost and I realized that this trip round I can’t lose again.”

The VIP Chairman was speaking at the party’s Annual Fundraiser, in observation of its 48th Anniversary, venued at the Cyril B. Romney Pier Park, on the evening of Saturday March, 23, 2019.

Hon Fahie, speaking to his win at the party’s Congress explained that his strategy was to work on the district councils and addressing the fact he had command only on four.

“Them up in the East I wasn’t getting them handled,” he said.

Deal

As such, Hon Fahie divulged that he devised a strategy using new Deputy Premier, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (D7) who the ‘East-End’ people wanted as the party’s president.

“So I cut a deal quick and I tell them as long as you vote for me, I will get have the party to vote for him.”

Speaking to his climb up the rungs of the Virgin Islands’ political ladder, Hon Fahie used the occasion to reminisce on when he lost the first time he ran for the position as the leader of the VIP; “I continued to run…I can’t tell you I wasn’t a little sour…people do say Fahie just went ahead, again you lost!”

He disclosed too, “my own party at the time crooked me…Because all of them told me they were going to vote for me but when dem vote count up, when dem vote add up, Fahie on the losing side again.”

According to the party Chairman—now Premier of the Virgin Islands—“I knew something was wrong because when we went in the Congress, some of them who said they were going to vote for me, I been in politics long enough, I say ah ha, Fahie get humble here again.”

He said nonetheless, he had put that behind and was looking at moving on.

Surely the Premier has other things to do than revisiting the past and repeating the same shyte over and over. Can you please move on and stop sounding so bitter?? You won the election for Pete's sake, get on with it. Where is the inspiration?

Soo what's your point? All parties involved did the same thing so you just shut up! 6 of one and half dozen of the other. Fahie need to move on with the people's business instead of harping in the past. Shows me he has no plans for this country so he has to keep talking on what was to distract us. Breaking news to Fahie, you win the elections so let's keep it moving now man. Show us what you really have in store for this country.

SEEMS like power gone to your head ... Election over long time ago ... Get to work, get to work, get to work. There’s so much to do and little time to do it. Where is that revised budget? 30th April 2019 round the corner and don’t blame another party if it gets rejected. Time is scare and is of essence.

    Hon. Fahie,

I really like you as a BVI Brother. Therefore my advice is not intended to criticize or tear town. I highly recommend you get a very good speech writer if you don't have one already. The investment will serve you well at home and abroad. Make the writer your best friend and stick to the script. Love ❤ for you and the BVI my brother!

Can’t take the violin music anymore, let’s get on with recovery already. We all know what happened with NDP as well as when NDP got in and knocked out VIP. Both parties left bills for the other. That was the past, now let’s get on with the present.
