ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A bevy of mainly professional women last evening, June 21, 2016 converged at the J.R. O’Neal Botanical Garden in Road Town, on the main island of Tortola, where their deep yearning for some ‘me time’ were given a jump start as prospective attendees of the 2016 edition of the international renowned women’s retreat, “Restoration Weekend”.

Michelle E. Hargrove, founder of Restoration Weekend, said it’s a weekend described as “a one-of-a-kind” 4-day, 3-night, luxury weekend of serenity, reconnection, and personal revival for women who need to “restore” themselves from the many hats they wear as busy wives, mothers, caregivers and career women.

Restoration Weekend is scheduled for September 29 – October 2, 2016 at Scrub Island Resort, and according to Ms Hargrove, “It’s a time for you to be unapologetically selfish for one weekend.”

Restoration Weekend opens up to VI women

Some 25 – 30 women from the Virgin Islands will get the chance to attend and participate in the celebrity style retreat weekend, something that is not of a usual trend. Ms Hargrove explained that ‘Restoration Weekend’ is held every year, most times in different countries around the world and is attended mainly by it registered members.

“This year we have decided to open up Restoration to women of the host country. We are sure that for those local women it’s going to be phenomenal. The weekend is designed for the busy, over-extended woman who often gives more than she takes. The purpose of Taste of Restoration is to educate, empower and restore women as dynamic influences in our society.”

During this time of restoration, women from all walks of life and various parts of the world, are inspired, uplifted and empowered by industry leaders, events and sessions focused on business, psychology, nutrition, spirituality, finances, and physical maintenance. Restoration Weekend attendees also have the opportunity to participate in Restoring Hope, a service project to give back to the community, typically involving school aged children.

Giving back

In addition, Ms Haregrove said that during the period of the event in the Virgin Islands (British), members will be reaching out to and partnering with a local organisation as a way of giving to charity. Plans are still in its infancy stages as it relates to identifying the local organisation.

About Restoration Weekend

Restoration Weekend was founded in 2007 by Michelle E. Hargrove, when she walked through her own journey of restoration after giving birth to a 1 pound premature baby. The event provides a safe place for like-minded women to take off the mask, tear down the walls and rediscover their ‘centre’.

The weekend is hosted annually at some of the world's most exclusive luxury resorts, including the Ritz Carlton in St Thomas, USVI; Grand Velas in Riviera Maya, Mexico; The Sanctuary in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic and African Pride Hotel and Resorts in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa.

From morning meditation on the beach to customised ‘Her Story’ sessions, Restoration Weekend partners with some of the most respected and renowned leaders and experts in their fields to challenge attendees to be at their personal best.  Speakers have included: Nicole Ari Parker, actress; Melinda Williams, actress; Sheree Fletcher of VH1's Hollywood Exes; singer-songwriter and entertainment executive, Perri "Pebbles" Reid; Mia Wright, co-pastor of the 20,000 member megachurch, The Fountain in Houston, Texas; Sonia Jackson Myles, Director of Global Packaging Purchases at Procter & Gamble; Carla Gentry Osorio, celebrity hairstylist; Toya Beasley, nationally syndicated radio host; Sophia A. Nelson, author and journalist; Dee Marshall, life coach; Shon Gables, television news anchor and personality; and Karen Dupiche, Emmy award winning makeup-artist for The View.

Restoration Weekend takes place at the end of September every year, with more than 40% of previous attendees returning each year.

Takes a strong man to handle a strong woman. Line them up lets see who they are. It sounds like a very interesting, and fun filled event.

Do you really think that a woman life is perfect if she have some damn man to lay with? See, a man always think with what he have between his legs a woman don't. I have my own business and I don't have time for some man laying up next to me. It is all about me making money. A penis don't pay the bills, I love you don't pay the bills. Sorry to say but, the man for me is not born yet. I am a very strong go getting woman. There is no man that can control or tell me what to do. He is not born yet.

@Girl Boss, Yes,yes,Yes. We can stand up in our 4" heels all day long and close big deals. See, a strong woman never let them see her sweat no matter what kind of pressure she is under.

Why negative comments? They are not interfering with anyone let them enjoy themselves.

First I am going to say, all the women deserve a few days to be pampered. The negative comments is coming from a bunch of male. When you male go out to the bars, strip clubs or sit behind the TV for hours looking at sports, it's all good. That is why I am the way I am. I am all about making my coins. Ladies, the negative comments is a fine example of being dependent on yourself. Don't depend on a man for anything. When you do that they think they own you and can tell you what to do or how to live your life.

Ladies don't pay attention to the negative comments. Gone are the days where a woman had to sit at home cooking, having babies and a slave to her husband. These days a strong woman can run a business and take care of home at the same time.I love So Wrong comment.Tell me, what do we as women need a man for? To give us more problems and to be a nag in our lives?

Thanks So Wrong for that comment, there is no way I would let a man get in my head, that is a sign of weakness. A woman should be able to think for herself and make her own decisions. I don't care about the I love you or the other head games. I can pay my own rent, furnish my crib, buy my own car, travel etc.. I don't need a man to do that for me.
