ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Controversial radio talk show host Edmund G. Maduro said the Church in the Virgin Islands has remained silent throughout what he called discriminatory behaviours and has called the current system of Government “satanic.”

Maduro was on Thursday May 12, 2016 speaking on his EGM radio show heard on ZROD 103.7 FM between the hours of 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

The talk show host has been consistent in his call for end to discrimination against locals in many regards, even alleging racial discrimination in some instances. He said United Kingdom (UK) appointed Governor John S. Duncan OBE is not doing enough to bring these alleged practices to an end.

"Government is of God. The Church has a serious responsibility and obligation to uphold the role of Jesus in God's governance," he said.

According to Mr Maduro, the Church found its voice on the issue of pari-mutuel wagering, something which he thinks will be good for the Virgin Islands, and spoke out vehemently against it despite the practical arguments put forward by those in the sport of horse racing for examble.

But he said he cannot understand their silence in regard to what he said is happening today.

“Today we have a situation where a number of people have come in and bought out islands and even though the law exists which says all beaches are public, his excellency the Governor, the Honourable Premier Dr Smith, the Deputy Premier Dr Pickering and all the others are sitting right down and seeing these alien landowners who have just come to the British Virgin Islands abusing us. How many of them have you heard say to these abusive people that they are wrong. Not one,” he said.

Lawmakers selling out

He went on to accuse lawmakers of being in the houses of the foreign land owners “eating food and drinking rum."

Maduro called the system of Government as exists now in the territory “satanic” and has no regard for the constitutional rights and human rights of the people.

"We have a system of Government that is satanic...that has no regard and no respect for our constitutional rights, for our human rights. As a matter of fact if you don't carry out their satanic directives, they dismiss you from office."

He said the Governor, as well as elected officials, take their oath before God to carry out their responsibilities according to law.

"What greater proof we need to show that Government is of God?" Maduro asked.

He said the people of the territory are allowing these abuses and doing nothing. "My people, you are the ones who are allowing this. Who is going to suffer? Your children and your grandchildren," he said.

Speaking what truth? That's the problem with most of us as BVI people, when things going good for us personally, then the country fine, when we don't get what we want then we want to act like we care about the country. When Edmund was engaged as a consultant not so long ago you couldn't hear his mouth, all was well. Now because he can't get his own way he is ranting and raging, no different to Donald with his Church outburst. These guys want their own way and when they can't get it they act like stubborn babies and try to make it seem about caring for country.
