VI Islander Devon Freeman shot dead in USVI

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI — A man said to be from the Virgin Islands (VI) has met his death via gun violence in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

According to a report in the VI Consortium today, June 20, 2016, Devon Freeman was shot to death in the area of the Tutu High Rise housing community at around 5:44 AM, according to Glen Dratte, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) public information officer.

The VIPD was alerted by the 911 emergency call center of shots fired near the housing community. Upon arrival to the scene, police made contact with the unresponsive male, later identified by next of kin as 42-year-old Devon Freeman. Mr Freeman was shot to death,” according to Mr Dratte.

No other information was divulged.

The case is presently under investigation by the Homicide Task Force, according to Dratte.

Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of suspects to contact the Task Force at (340) 774-2211 extensions 5617 and 5554. You can also call 911, Crime Stoppers VI, the commissioner’s office at (340)715-5506 and the chief’s office at (340)715-5548.

        @ foxy: send a letter to your premier and share this information with him: listen to house of assembly and not one member of parliament speaks about the crimes in this territory all them talk about is how to save the financial services or save the whales: as you so rightly full noted who will come to BVI within the next 10 years because at the current rate, crime is quickly becoming the other pillar of our economy so we looking at fininical services, tourism and arm robberies
