VI elections are over, two weeks & counting!

- Both NDP & VIP remain dissatisfied with some results & questioned the legitimacy in some areas
Dr. Hubert O'Neal (left) is claiming that contracts given out by his opponent Hon. Ralph T. O'Neal days before polling day caused him to lose the election, but has provided no evidence, however he wants bribery investigated
Many supporters of Hon. Julian Fraser (right) have complained about voter registration padding where many residents not living in the 3rd district were registered in the district just for Mr. Kevin Smith (left) to defeat Mr. Fraser. The alleged attempt failed, but its unclear who was responsible for the alleged voter padding.

Many residents in the 8th district including members of the 8th district committee to re-elect Dancia Penn (right) are claiming that many of her supporters voted with a black pen placed in the polling station on election day, however when the votes were counted alledgely none of the black pen votes were seen. No official complain has been filed.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Today, Monday November 21, 2011, makes it two weeks since the Monday November 7, 2011Genral Elections in the Virgin Islands (VI) that have left the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) reeling after suffering their worst electoral drubbing in almost 40 years, sustaining heavy losses across the VI.

The VIP was ejected from power in the 8th district home to Dancia Penn QC – as the new comer Marlon Penn of the National Democratic Party (NDP) edge her out in a four-candidate contest with 524 votes which represents 48.1 percent, to Ms. Penn 423 votes or 38.8 percent.

Two weeks ago today, by about 11:00 p.m., it was clear that the VIP had lost the 4th, 5th, 6th , 7th and 8th districts. The VIP suffered heavily at the hands of the NDP in the 4th district in a three-man contest with the NDP’s Mark Vanterpool recording 661 votes - 68.5 percent to the former incumbent VIP Dr. Vincent Scatliffe’s 209 votes -21.7 percent with Independent Colin Scatliffe with just 95 votes - a mere 9.8 percent.

The NDP made significant gains in the biggest upset which was already predicted by this news agency’s political desk over the VIP in the 6th district. The new comer Alvera Maduro-Caines secured 612 votes - 61.4% to the former incumbent and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Omar Hodge’s 385 votes-38.6%.

While VI voters seemed intent on punishing the VIP out of office, no other party or independents were able to capture a seat in the second House of Assembly, leaving the VIP and NDP to do the battle.

The 2011 election campaign sparked a war of words between the NDP and VIP with some memorable songs, one-liners and phrases.

The VIP suffered in the At-Large race with the NDP capturing the four seats, ousting three VIP At-Large incumbents and retaining the other. The four NDP At-Large candidates’ votes are as follows: Dr. Orlando Smith - 5,081; Myron V. Walwyn - 4,605; Ronnie W. Skelton 4,475 and Archibald Christian 4,205.

This gives the NDP a 9 to 4 seat majority in the second House of Assembly.

Some Election results questioned, Legitimacy an issue

While the overseas observers claimed that the election results were free and fair, some are taking that with a grain of salt, knowing that the observers only came in to the VI a couple days before the elections. One NDP candidate Hubert O’Neal who was defeated in the 9th district for the fourth consecutive time is now claiming that he wants the United Kingdom appointed Governor as well as the Supervisor of Elections to investigate possible bribery. Over the weekend, he told a local TV station that he was poised to win the election but “something turn it around in the last two days”. Dr. O’Neal, according to the local TV station, is attributing it to contracts given out by the former Premier, something that was legal.

There has been no comment from the man who defeated him four times now, former Premier Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE.

In the 8th district, many members of the Committee to re-elect Dancia Penn have been discussing that the election officer at the polling station allowed some residents to vote with a black pen placed in the polling station with her knowledge. However, when the votes were counted those votes were not seen according to some residents in the 8th district. The 35 to 40 votes were allegedly for the then incumbent Dancia Penn QC. No official complain has been filed with the election office.

There has also been bitter conversation about alleged voters’ list padding by having people not living in the 3rd district registered thereby voting in the 3rd district with the goal of defeating the Hon. Julian Fraser RA. The attempt has failed as Mr. Fraser held on to his seat. It is unclear who is being accused of this activity.

Finally, there remains the looming question of a challenge to two elected candidate Myron Walwyn and Archibald Christian once they are seated in the second House of Assembly. Virgin Islands News legal desk has already declared that both men elected At-large, were eligible to run and can be seated according to the 2007 VI Constitutional Order.

One glimmer of hope coming out of the 2011 elections is that the VIP can still boast that they had received the biggest landslide to date in the VI political history with an 11 to 2 victory over the NDP in 2007.

Here are the final elections results:

Why people questioning legitamacy, if the election was rigged, wouldn't Fraser be the biggest target, and try messing with those numbers???? The election WAS fair and free, and the people has spoken. Let's try and move this thing along now man>>>>

So what Dancia or anyone for that matter trying to claim now, that a whole 100 people in the 8th district so dumb that after all the procedures and enactment by GIS on JTV, a whole hundred people still allow themselves to be fooled by voting with a pen???? Oh jeezzz, when will it end. Fraser and the people of the third should quit from complaining about other people coming from elsewhere to vote because maybe some of those same voters re-registered to make sure he DIDN'T lose his seat. hereby that was of benefit to him and the people who wanted him there!!!! SO WHAT'S THE BEEF????

Them saying, not trying to say, that the district had persons registered in it that don't live in the district. Not a lil bit either, a whole bunch ah people. That's a Fact! You won't believe til you see the name. That is fraud, and that is a fact. The people them name need to move to way them live, and a body need to be in place when registering people, no one man election officer should be in charge of that, and i don't care who it is - it need to be a body of people - so that applications would go through a body that going meet ever so often. When it get closer to election then they meet more often. It can be done. Story done.

WOW! Fraser and his people were the ones who registered the voters outside the District. We can solve this pretty easily! Get the list of folks who aren't in the district but registered and let the Police question them, then we will see who was behind it. 5 people told me they were asked to register in the 3rd by Fraser people, in promises of trade licenses, 3yrd trucks, land and contracts. Furthermore, there are many people who were living in the 3rd, changed address but left their registration in the 3rd so even if someone moved to East End from SCBay 2yrs ago, they're still registered in the 3rd and can vote as such. That applies to all districts. Tell Fraser and his lame crew go sit down from making excuses. Ask them how much that private road in Havers cost. Ask them how many contracts were signed in the district alone. Ask them how much they spent bringing boat loads from St Thomas and how much they were paid. He did all of that and still barely won, only by 56 votes. The problem is, they wanted to blow out OJ so bad and it didn't happen. They even cancelled their so called victory celebrations. Wha happen? LMAO!!!!!! Another thing, Fraser had men through the voters line talking to people, holding spaces for people and were alleged to have paid monies. If anybody should complain about that race is OJ! OJ had a rat in his camp who was reporting to Fraser and Fraser had millions of the Treasury money to spend and make promises and he barely won!! Man ya'll really lame!!!

LOL! As I said, the people who were registered and not living in the 3rd already spilled the beans on Fraser so nothing you say can change that! When VIP win it's fair, NDP wins it's a cheat! LOL VIP did not have a team!! They were outcampaigned by MILES! VIP worked against each other, none of them could stand eachother, even their supporters in certain districts were helping to campaign against other VIP's in other Districts. Before Fraser look at OJ, tell him check Andrew Fahie and his people who were rooting for him and looking to assist in his failure! Fraser took Yellow and Eggy to vote, SHAMELESS!! On pre-voting, 81 people voted, mostly old people picked up by Fraser's gang and that's where his 56 vote majority was gotten! LOL!!! Why ya'll cancelled the victory party? LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO!! I hope that boy from town get his 3yrd truck for voting in the 3rd. I also hope the spanish people who get their rent paid and were promised trips to DR will get them! Don't let me talk all here BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And for your information, this isn't OJ, Myron or whoever you may think! This is one of the YOUTH who helped put NDP over the top!! Now, you EAT THAT PUNK!!!

Oh and how could I forget? Fraser spent almost $500,000.00 paving Havers which is a PRIVATE ESTATE using our tax dollars, he gave out contracts like peas, he paved roads that had nothing wrong with them, made promises, Fraser spend over $1million on the campaign and won by only 56 votes! If anybody should be ashamed, it's Fraser! He didn't have a motorcade after he won and he also cancel his victory party. What does that tell you? But don't worry, when the facts come out of those Audits you all will go into hiding! What you're saying is hearsay and rumours, but the truth will come out very soon! Lies and lies and lies and still barely won, now ontop of that they saying it's a cheat lol lol lol!! The lil boy had fraser home sh$$$ing himself down to the wire....

Speaking of Private Estates you fool "Crank Shaft". Let me educate you. Havers Road is Private; Pockwood Pond Road, is Private; Palestina Road, is Private; Hannah's Estate Road, is Private; Manuel Hill Road, is Private; Duffs Bottom Road, is Private; Sea Cows Bay / Challwell Road, is Private. Need I go on you fool. None of these roads have been transferred to Government, but are registered to either the respective estates or individual citizens. Now you fool tell us if the people using these roads, including yourself, are not tax payers and deserve the care and attention Fraser has been giving them? Again, the very actions of OJ and the NDP of registering outsiders in the Third District to beat Fraser, you are too dam coward to fest up to, when in fact OJ supporters has been bragging about it long before the elections. The Supervisor of Elections must explain this. It is also alledged that the same practise was done in the 8th District. This is something that someone must pay for. We promise you that.

Crank Shaft, you have a way of hoping to turn things aroundand making your side look goog, but the fact is, it is OJ who had the 3rd District list padded, it is OJ who had his people parrading the line all day campaigning for him, it is OJ who had the police turning a blind eye to what was happening all day around the polling station. Fraser people has no problem with 3rd District people living in St. Thomas coming to vote. Fraser people has a problem with people living in St. Thomas being able to transfer their registration from another District to the 3rd District. t is Iillegal to transfer if you live in St Thomas. As for paying people to vote for OJ, we will prove it when the time is right. This thing aint over by a long shot. Your stupid claim that Fraser promised people Trade License, I didnt know that he issued Trade License. In any event, knowing Fraser, if he promised someone something he will deliver, even though I do not know him as a person who go around promising people things. That is why people has issues with him, because he tells you the truth, unlike others who go around lying and BSing people. On the other hand though, I want to see how OJ is going to pay off on all his promises. Dagger boy, I hope you dont use OJ to help you put your mother in the Home, but instead get him to pay her bills which you never help her with. But when the pressure hit you you will see where you went wrong . Tell me how many votes Dr. Pickering won the 7th District by in 2007, also, tell me how many votes Dr. Smith won by in 2007. Now tell me what happened in 2011. Crank Kass, do you get the point?

4 years ago when VIP won the elections 11 to 2, Ms. Juliet was an NDP and also was Orlando's cousin, so why didn't the NDP win back then? We BV Islanders are so simple and small minded that we only thinking of getting perks at the expense of losing our country. Face it, can we really say that the VIP did a good job, enough to be voted back in? NO!!!!! If we really love our country and want it to get back to where we use to be and above, we need to start thinking of who can really do the job rather than who can give us hand-outs without having to work for it. Its a sad thing to see how we focus on self over country.

The maths clear, and father over all knows all. We have a Government whether through fairness, deceit or FRAUD! We move forward.
